Thanks for the confirmation on the holster position. I am a bit of a newbie on the historical side and both German and British seem to be pushed as wearing pistols cross draw yet I have seen lots of period pictures of them being right side too!
I guess if it feels right, they did it in the field. One question is Bren gunners, I supposed you wouldn't give up an ammo pouch for a correct placed pistol holster so did they just stuff it where they could (as I have)?
Finally a bit of info if it helps. I got a Brown leather Makarov holster for about £6 on EBAY. I wear it when playing German as a battlefeld pickup (wrong period I know but it looks nice and worn & sort of right). So far it has had a Bell M10 revolver in it, a Cyma Glock 18c and a Mk1 with the mags fitting in two of the pockets on it for both the Glock and the Mk1. I think it would fit a luger, 1911 and P38 OK also but not tried.
