Any resident experts on these topics? I'm after insignia - either cheap repro or something that I can make.
Helga's the one to give you info on this
What are you actually after ? Insignia (repro) for tunics is available.... but then you need the tunic to wear with it, I bought an original RB eagle cheaper than the repro (go figure
). Hat insignia is not available repro'd and its a mare to find as I'm still searching for a reichspost eagle. I do have an original RB eagle on my very nice hat though.
As said it depends what its for (though I fail to see how its in the context of airsoft) the simplist way is with an armband, and it happens I've made some
but you'd need civi stuff to wear that.
Ask away and I'll do what I can to offer any help, I've spent a while now searching out stuff. I've got a tunic and hat ready for Levisham where I'm reenacting a reichsbahn station personnel
and if you want I'll stick a piccie of it up later, once I've been to dance class ![]()

I'm thinking about using something for the detailing on a budget Volkssturm impression.
Quote:
Many members of the Volkssturm wore makeshift paramilitary uniforms or uniforms from their civilian jobs (such as train conductors of the Reichsbahn).
Be cheaper doing volksturm with feldgrau
and the relevant armband surely (Antony of Mil net stocks them) ? not only because its more available, its also cheaper. Checked the repro site for insignia and its not working (maybes me but I can't get it to work at all), but it would be £30 + postage for the repro insignia (and thats only the arm adler thats available) against half that for a VS armband
.
Whilst the job of a train or even tram staff was a civilian entity, like many things in the Reich they had their own uniform but they aren't reproduced (sure someone would do one to order, but for airsoft
). Most reenactors I see doing VS wear the feldgrau with a checked shirt under the tunic (hint of civilian), boots (be they low or jack it would be what you' sourced/acquired from previous service or otherwise) with the bonus theres no regulation on wearing gaitors afaik, amongst other things.

Another thought would be some nice period styled wool trews (pick your colour) with the feldgrau tunic. if your ain't wanting to go the whole hog on a uniform for a late war impression (ie very late), check shirts from charity shops.

All good points. I'll probably just go for a VS armband plus homemade collar tabs for the tunic. What kind of check shirts do you mean?
I've also got a rather nice leather and canvas satchel that I will use instead of pouches / breadbag etc. I thought of maybe stencilling Deutsche Reichspost or something on it.
Hmm will have a look through my photos and see if theres any with postal bags slung over the ladies. Yes ladies seeing as thats really the part I research, it just happens they were issued mostly male kit
as an after thought.
Shirt, shall have to have a hunt for a suitable picture as well if I remember, failing that Che's might be visible on the Husky pictures under his drinking uniform

What kind of check shirts do you mean?
A checked shirt

not a Czech Shirt
