Hi there all.
New to WW2 Airsoft but not new to Airsoft.
Question.
I am putting together a Waffen SS Officer (Hauptsturmfuhrer) armed with an MP40. I am having the uniform made from Epic but want to know one thing as I am very confused..?
Can I wear Jack Boots or are the not what a Waffen SS Officer would wear in the field and shall I go for leather MP40 pouches or Material..
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks..
Yes you can wear jack boots and cloth pouches are the more common. Leather were mostly pre war, they did get used but I would say they are 'unusual'.

Thanks very much. ok another question. Crusher Cap and Helmet ok. Depending on Scenario. How ofter do people play and does anyone know of any training regiments or people get together for training. ?
At CiA events, we try and keep Officers uniforms/Crushers/Visors to organisers in the field so players can automatically identify CiA staff, meaning that people can immediately ID us in the event of a problem. Unfortunately, it also makes life easier for the sneaky snipers Other event organisers have their own rules and regs. Evening do's and socials, anything goes. Get dressed up in your best Officer togs and have a laugh!
Another issue is with materials - Gaberdine uniforms aren't really the best for use in the field (considering how shite the British weather tends to be). They don't have the "give" in them that wool does, and unlike wool they don't stay warm when damp (ask Old 'un about this - he wears Gaberdine for evening socials, and wools during the event)
As to training days, if you look through the forum, you'll see that players like to set up their own training days, it helps foster teamwork and camaraderie!

Ok I fully understand the need for organisation but after being in the Army for 12 years and been playing airsoft for 9 years is it not about what a player wishes to portray at the end of the day. I know and have seen pictures and accounts of officers fighting in Crusher caps and the Ski type. So are we saying to play WW2 airsoft on any magor event you HAVE to wear a helmet and only a helmet ? ?
This is not a dig its a question of someone trying to understand WW2 airsoft and its politics

It's not really a question of politics. As Kermit says, at the "social" (basically the huge piss up before the game), anything goes, come dressed as Rommel if you want! A fair few guys have bought full officer loadouts before they've even played and then realise, when they start gaming, that officers boots are murder on your feet and pinch like hell, map cases are an embuggerance, riding breeches impractical and that crusher caps just draw all of the fire as you get mistaken for an organiser/side commander. It also looks a bit silly if half of the German side are officers.
The vast majority of real Heer and Waffen SS officers wore enlisted mans kit in combat (I'm sure, as ex-mob, you tried to hide any sign of rank in the field), so as not to stand out as targets for snipers or massed infantry fire. Best bet is to go ahead and badge up a tunic as a rupert if you really need to and then chuck a camo smock over it for gaming and maybe wear an M43 cap rather than a crusher. Then, for the piss ups, it's just a case of taking off the smock and putting the crusher on. Saves money and any confusion.
And, by the way, welcome to the forum!

Not taken as a dig fella
Players are free to wear whatever they want that suits the occasion (though there's a few units that would be frowned upon - I think we can all work out which ones they are), and I'm talking purely from a CiA Organisers point of view. Regarding headwear, I personally prefer an M43 peaked cap or an M40 sidecap to a helmet or visor/crusher - *much* more practical and comfortable, and my headwear of choice. You certainly don't have to wear a helmet; many people choose to, but its up to them. The only time we actively recommend helmets is at urban sites where the chance of smacking your head into something like a wall or a steel girder is always present, but that's just a recommendation.
Oh, and Heide. You are one of the snipers I was referring to earlier

Ok so a little more help then. What would I need and where from for a standard officer load out for a MP40 as an officer and Uniform
requirements.
Help Please ?
All depends on how authentic you want to be and how deep your pockets are to be honest.
This thread has several links to retailers of German gear.

Also depends on whether you want to battle as part of a group or just do your own thing.
Most the groups try and encourage players to play EMS as sections of officers just looks ridiculous.
As for your kit, spearhead do cheap uniforms adequate for airsoft, you can find them on ebay.

I'm taking it when you refer to Jack boots you mean the longer riding boots that were officer wear ? Plenty of evidence of Officers wearing EM gear , however if you wanted to be more correct it means getting the officer quality wool, riding boots and trousers, plus the crusher .
