hi guys,
i am looking at running a few ww2 single day games at hopefully my local site over the next year and wondered what might be a cheapish german look for rental as think we may lack germans more than allies , these games will be run on a sort of film sim style and not a stich counting look so just after the general feel ? , thou not planned as yet maybe allied rental kit as well lol :)

many thanks inadvance :)

chris

Once it would have been easy, Swedish tunics, but they are themselves harder to find and getting expensive.
There are repro tunics for as little as £40?
You might be able to get a good price on a job lot of camo smocks if you shop around.
Austrian Dot camo was popular with early reenactors.

You may want to try and get those plastic German Helmets - Iconic look, cheap and not really a big issue if damaged.

Austrian camo as mentioned, even flectarn jackets can be used for rentals kit - you can get them really cheap as well.

Some black or green boilersuits, belt & buckle with cheap M43 caps - would do for armoured/tank troops

you should be able to pickup postwar/modern single coloured sidecaps/peaked caps in bundles from ebay

It depends on luck...
I bought brand new SOF's HBT pants on ebay for 12,25 EURO...

If your lacking Germans ...then put on events that appeal to German players :good:

As a rule Germans tend to be less interested in "airsoft" games than the Yanks, and more interested in more immersive stuff.

There's a reason why some events are overloaded on the allied side and under represented by the German side, and it's mainly due to the style of gameplay .

Meant in a positive rather than negative way. :D

many thanks for the help so far think it may be smocks /caps

umm still waiting on the site/s but if it happens the midlands :)

i only worry about germans as of the 10+ players i know that like ww2 off hand think only 1 is german loool

it wont be intense ww2 as i said more of a film type sim as i know folks who want to get into some of the ww2 gear but worried that nealry every game they see is different units etc all the time and cant always buy everything straight away and maybe a bit worried to borrow

so just looking at allies vs axis and see how we go :) if it happens will post more details when i know :)

ta for the help :)

Hi depending on where we are a group of 10 but that includes some experienced youngsters all German so that may even up the sides a bit!

To echo the comments above, I'd go with camo smocks and either field caps (those repro M43 splinter ones are very cheap) or the plastic Stahlhelms from Silly Jokes. They are only a tenner and almost identical in size to a real one. You might want to spray them grey unless you fancy the SS LAH parade ground look...

As mentioned above, Flecktarn is a reasonable fallback, as even the cheapest repro smocks I've seen have been at least £30 ea.

Cheers

Hey, CJW, you wouldn't be talking about me now would you - 'you only know 1 German player' ? :happydance:

I'll look like a fool if you aren't the chap I'm thinking you are, but one of the sites you're thinking of is Fireball, right? Jonesey's site at Rugeley would be a cracking venue, too :good:

I agree, if you can, then try the 'm43 cap plus a smock' look - I'll give you a hand trying to look for some decent prices if you like. The all-in-one boiler suit/overall option would be fine for tankers but not so good for regular infantry

Do you happen to know what the chaps at F+O were using for their rental gear last weekend?

lool yes its you thou i guess i would have to count marsha as a second having fought on the german side with her , as she lugged the mg42 around lol

they used flektarn jackets i think and german helmets and to be honest did not effect the game that much and hardly noticed when going on , hard to tell what most folks wearing when they shooting you lol, thou the advantage with smocks as long as i get large enough i can always use 1 day again lool thou having had 3 german uniforms and played 1 game as a german it does not bode well .

yes most likely it will be at fireball and due to my ties there would only look to run elsewhere as a last resort , i just need to iron out a couple of details tomorrow then hopefully i can get it all rolling :)

the date will be the 19th of march i hope :) 1 week after my 40th :happyswing:

Haha - a celebration shoot then, in a way. A pity you'll be on the losing side, though :giggle:

well its mainly as i have not put it up any where yet , just a few players i know from fireball and some that they have told etc etc , only person i have contacted so far or mentioned it to was marsha as i know she is local to the site.

i know probly at least 2 more local players will be on germans side but until i get chance to fully write it up a little more and get the game sorted did not want to push it to much - its more folks telling folks at the mo

yer about half of them play at fireball and the rest they have met at other games etc i can stretch to 20 even maybe a cpl more if both sides balance up but thou fireball runs with 60-100 i would rather it be low sneaky numbers rather than tripping over folks as the whole area will be in play the entire day so hopefully lots of small skirmishes and no hose fest :) as may be a trek to resupply. We have always lacked the numbers on the german side - got even worse when i defected over to the yanks. German dave aka richardschulze1944 realy must try to recruit more :)
