For my parachute jump I need to convert my helmet to include the Paratrooper A Frame chinstraps. Anyone know the best/cheapest place to get them from? Had a look on SoF but really begrudge paying a tenner for 2 very small pieces of canvas WITHOUT the rivets to hold them in place. Oh and the leather chin cup, that was £15 but I don't mind paying that if absolutely necessary.

Surely better to jump with something thats *safe* and not whats cheap?

I think £25 quid would be the least of my worries if i was throwing myself out of a plane?

Maybe one of the other airborne re-enactors can loan you an airborne pattern helmet for the jump?

M1s are a bugger to convert into M1Cs.

Better off buying a proper liner with para webbing in.

RIGHT! haha I will divulge the company who is allowing me to do so (be it as a one off occurance! Because it's for charity.) once I've done the jump. I don't especially want the company getting hindered by half a million WW2 reenactors with only me to turn to as an explanation. Surely you can understand that Gadge mate, I'm not trying to be hard work.

I'm doing it with a modern chute and no I've confirmed dually with both the airfield and the company that I am able to wear my Airborne jumpsuit.

Headshot, from what I've seen it isn't that hard to fit the A Frames they just rivet inside the liner. All you need is a drill, shouldn't take 10 minutes. But yes on reflection maybe £25 isn't that bad. Wouldn't want to borrow a helmet just in case it got damaged, they're bloody expensive M1C's! More than I can afford on students money anyway!

And I'm still accepting pledges  Jumps paid for booking it tomorrow!
