Hi all

Following the great success of the first ever early-war battle that we ran in July, we're looking towards the final desperate days of the war with a Russian Front event in early 2010. This will be held at a truly unique site, that fits the scenario perfectly.

We want to ensure we have enough people who would portray Russians before we finalise the site booking. As this won't include partisans, we're looking for participants to use Red Army/NKVD kit. We're not looking for complete authenticity, so it's possible to put together a suitable lookalike uniform for well under £50 (eg: greatcoat, puttees and pilotka/Heide's helmets.)

If you're interested please post below. We need 20 participants to go ahead with this, if we don't get enough interest we'll pull the event before booking opens to avoid another Jedburgh!

Opposition force will be German, natürlich, so dust off your MP44s!!

Cheers

We aren't giving a location yet (or even a clue!) except to say it is in the UK and it is accessible and there will be overnight camping for those that want it.

Take a look at Lardy's kit guide: viewtopic.php?f=49&t=6952

Cold weather gear recommended - hence brown greatcoats suggested as an easy and practical basis on which to build the Russian look...

Only half the Russians will need a weapon, so it's a cheap loadout...

Good point, concessions will be made on weapons due to availability. Captured German weapons and lend-lease western weapons will suffice.

Needless to say you can count me in. Hopefully the AGM PpSh will have appeared by then to end our weapon problems. If anyone need any help with kit feel free to ask. :good:

Yes, I was chatting to Gadge about doing a Russian loadout and I think I have the budget available! So count me in... date dependent.

I would have used this as a chance for my German gear, but I will gladly join the Russia's to help you out with numbers :good: , so (with the usual date dependancies) you can put down my interest :D

Cheers Josh, much appreciated, that may well help.

Following previous comments, discussion of dates is somewhat academic.
There will be no game anyway if chaps aren't interested in playing Russian - hence the thread asking for players to flag themselves up as interested players, not a discussion on suitable dates!

We promised and planned a Russian based urban game for November which didn't come to pass as the site owner went bust. We are having another crack but if there isn't sufficient interest then that will be that - I doubt we will bother again, except to do something more manageable such as our Bryansk scenario that involved partisans to boost Red Army numbers...
