Whilst you lucky peeps were at Wotan I was reading the "Scenario Ideas" thread and thinking about sites around here that would be good for a WW2 game. There's an old airbase used as a skirmish site near Dundee that I think would be an excellent spot for a game. It's got lots of scope for indoor and outdoor action as well as wooded and clear areas.

However before contacting them and getting any planning done I thought that I'd see how many people would be willing to travel this far North for a game. After all if it's just me, Kavster and Morgs that would turn up then we may as well get together for an evening of Call of Duty on my xbox. However if a few people were willing to make the trip and a suitable scenario was written I think it could make for a pretty good game.

So, if it was organised well in advance and you had the weekend free etc would you be prepared to make the trip?

You'll have to sell it to me well.. :)

5 1/2 hours is a long drive... :) though obviously not as long as some have already done for an event!

 Just be thankful you're not one of the ones that has had to catch the train in the past.

I'm aware it'd have to be a solid scenario and I'm prepared to put the work and effort in, but I don't have the time to spend doing it for people to say it's too far etc, hence why I'm asking the question up front before I start so I know if it's a goer. :D

If someone were driving up i'd go with em and contribute to travel costs.

Although it's an 8 hour drive for me I might consider it if we can get a group together, hire a mini-bus and share the driving like Warren did when he and his friends came for the Arnhem game.

that's a bloody good idea i hadn't thought about, there are probably enough of us in the nottingham vicinity to warrant a minibus, and i wouldn't mind doing at least some of the driving.

If nothing could be arranged from here I would consider driving to Nottingham to join a group leaving from there, especially if I could travel the night before and borrow someones couch.

A few guys I know did this for a hockey tournament we play in. A couple drove from Cardiff to Swindon, some from somewhere else and then they all met up and hired a minibus from Swindon and drove it up to Hull. Apparently the journey ended up being a pretty good laugh.

457 miles.... 8 hours....

I'd do it but preferrably if it was planned around a bank holiday or something like that so I had a day either side to travel etc.

I was thinking it'd need to be done around a Bank holiday if possible, either that or a 24hr midday to midday jobby over a Sat/Sunday. That way people could drive up the day/night before if they wanted and arrive late, then drive home afterwards on Sunday or stay over until Monday.

As I said, just in the ideas stage at the moment, so all ideas/suggestions are welcome.

I'd be up for it. Sorting out a minibus is definitely the way to go, having done it before to take a team to Sennybridge. One thing I would say though - having been the sole driver last time - is that you REALLY need 2 drivers on a long haul. I was completely fucked by the time I got back last time lol

I'll raise your 4 Nutters with 1 mad german, a lunatic ex Guardsman plus 4 "regular" nutters :) .

But seriously, for long distance games, its definitely worth getting a minibus.
