They do those too. 8) Go on, Kamerad! You know you want it! :giggle:

well i know you weren't talking to me but i'll let you know how the flieger's are.

fliegerbluse arrived today, really nice quality, a little snug on me as their sizes only go to 44 chest and I'm nearer 46 but if I move the buttons over a little it should be fine.now i just need the yellow collar tab's and gulls.

Gav out of interest what colour is yours?

Having looked around the web it appears on Re enactors sites that the colour should be almost Grey but some companies are doing Blue ones?

its very dark grey, much darker than field grey, not really blue at all though may look different in daylight, so probably the right colour.

Needs some RAL 6006 to make it more German, and then it should be perfect for a spotter in a sniper team.

Or when you are in a trench/bunker or other sort of fortification.

May I was what it original is (Russian? Hungarian, etc) date and/or type? And what you paid for it?

@ _Arthur

Have a look at www.ahagreat.com - they sell (rubbish) WW2 repro kit, as well as original surplus Chinese PLA kit. The periscope is from them.

It's a Soviet pattern periscope, that is actually period for WW2 for use with the ruskies (albeit, with a leather/canvas holster/carrier).

Probably a strong contender for the most pointless bit of kit award. :giggle:

Ebay, the lazy man's carboot sale

£9.99. No idea if that's a good price but I've seen them go for more.

Your gonna tell me I've been ripped off now aren't you :slap:

I do not know whether the Soviets had multiple periscope models in use during WW2, but this is the design most commonly seen on their photos:

On the other hand, my idea to use the Chinese scope as a Wehrmacht model was based on this pic:

Notice the angled top eye-piece. And... *just noticing* The bottom of the periscope appears to extend below the bottom eye-piece, judging from the observer's hand positions! So it might be a hooded version of the first pic after all...

Think I found it though - the Soviet TR8 periscope. It appears the Zvezda sniper team is using looted kit...

Thats very similar indeed, but I've not seen one with the tube extention comming from the top before.
Here's a picture of one like yours being used with a tripod and dial-mount:
