Picked up a nice repro Garand bayonet and scabbard, bloody thing won't fit on my pack though! Must be that version with the eyelets too close together. :(

Get an original mate! Warren at Shoot and Scoot has a fair few I believe...all you need is the meatcan pouch!

And don't worry about the sleeves being too short for the M41 - most of them were - have a look at some period photos mate :)

Nice to see someone else in my local area too mate...!

Yeah my plan is to slowly replace all my repro webbing with real stuff over time but for the moment this one will match the garand belt and stuff I've got. Wherabouts are you based?

After rummaging through Warrens huge pile of neat stuff at 'The Longest Day' I now have a rather nice metal P38 springer. No idea of the manufacturer but it appears to work, and for 25 quid, who is arguing? Also a rubber SLR bayonet.

Cheers
Martin

Where did you get those? HIKI seems to be all out of cheap Afrika Korps stuff.

Cheers

Treated myself to a Christmas present from Epic, I would have liked to get it cheaper of course but I'm always somewhat reluctant to order stuff from the far east lest I have to send it back, which is a shame, Hiki have a lot of stuff I want. Probably going to have to put in a fair bit more overtime before I can add any more to it though.

All sorts of things I forget to post up; but from Derby's Cattle Market Carboot this morning:

A pair of WW2 British AFV/DR goggles (the type with the separate oval lenses, not the 'b' and 'd' shaped lenses) complete in tin, although suffering from rust rather - £4

A nice, seemingly unused, British military tent-peg mallet - £3.45

A 1944 dated British jerry can (with integral breather pipe) in very good condition - £7.00

From Derby's Cattle Market Carboot this morning:

A Vickers MG belt repair tool! One of these: http://www.vickersmachinegun.org.uk/acc-spares-beltrepairing.htm
The crimper used to replace the eyelet rivets on the MkI/MkII/MkIII belts! I've been looking for one of these for sale for ages, then one turns up in an old bucket of tools and general garage detritus! £1!!!! :happyclap: :happyswing: :happydance: :happyclap:

Shame though that the three Vickers belts I've got are all MkIVs which don't require eyelet rivets in their manufacture... :slap:

A repro German Army blanket and a pair of the new Militaria.net all roughout German low boots as a 'mid price' option.

Here being worn in around the office:

-- attachment is not available --

-- attachment is not available --

they seem to be made or reasonable quality leather although the hobnails look a bit dodgy I can replace those myself. I followed Anthony's advice of going a size up but even the size 12s are bit snug on my size 11 feet.

Looking forward to a fun winter of coating them in dubbin and breaking them in.

Cheers
Martin

They are indeed very beautiful boots, the only problem is they are a bit snug around my toes - always an issue with pointy toed shoes/boots for my huge clodhopping feet. They are now plastered in dubbin and neatsfoot oil to soften the leather a bit, and I'll just have to keep spraying leather softener inside them and wearing them until the toe area stretches a bit. I had the same problem with my new work ankle boots, just had to endure a few agonising walks at lunchtime until they stretched a bit, and the same with my jackboots. Really I could have done with a bigger size, but 12 is as big as they go.

Cheers
Martin

A few British bits for Xmas: a P37 map case, messtin cover and a trench whistle and lanyard. My new boots are now much more comfortable after extensive wear over the break, including in the ice and snow.

Hopefully this will all get an outing on the 11th.

I also got a new hexi stove as I discovered my Trangia will fit properly in a British one (but is a bit too big for an Esbit).

Cheers
Martin

Have a look at Zib; they are selling of all the remaining Antz/Pirschen-stock, small & very large sizes at bargain prices; http://www.zib-militaria.de/epages/6143 ... _Uniformen

Also some others are still available at Large/Medium sizes for a fair amount.
