Jackboots and Waffen SS EM Shoulder Boards from Epic.

Damn the Jackboots need breaking in - any tips or just wear them and then stuff with damp newspaper when not wearing?

Oh and another delivery just turned up - CM AK-47

Just wear the jackboots, the fit is much better with any boot if it's broken in "naturally".

My postman has just delivered my Oakleaf smock and my MP40 ammo pouches. Getting there slowly but surely.

Wear them around the house for a week...

Then wear them sat with them in bath to soak and then go for a long walk, until dry. Take some spare shoes for if they hurt too much to walk after a while.

This should then make clear the areas that need attention on the boots. (i.e. you'll get blisters, etc). Knead those areas for a while to soften the leather and then just wear as normal.

This is pretty much the process I used with my ammo boots and they're really nicely worn in now.

Just got my M40 tunic and M42 trousers from Spearhead. I can't believe how he does it for the money! The only thing I've had to buy to complete the tunic is a correct Waffen SS sleeve eagle and some rank ribbon. It even came with Iron cross ribbon too.

I have a wool allergy, which was concerning me but after wearing the kit for a while, it feels more like felt. So much less coarse than British battledress and nowhere near as hot as I thought it would be.

The only real pain I have had was that after I'd sewn all of the (included) insignia on, I'm going to have to turn the cuffs up (short arse!), which means my Hohenstaufen cuff title will end up being too low but who really cares?

Would include pictures but I don't know how to attach them!

mmm... I've considered something like that myself. Only thing thats put me off so far is the lack of a lanyard ring and it being rather post-war.

Does it fit nicely in a 37 pat holster though?

Yes it fits but with a bit of room spare, in both the 37 holster and cut down tankers holster but the barrel is too short.

Im going to try and get the Tannaka S&W M10 & M29 revolvers just to see which is closes.

The Police positive is a post war colt copy of the S&W 'Victory Revolver' but with 3" bsrrel rather than 4.5" barrel on the S&W and the colt logo on the grips, witch are black hardened ruber.

My only niggle is that their isnt a lanyard ring on the bottom of tthe grips, I think a bit of insulting tape is called for.

yes very look after it well, NEVER put green gas in it, always cock it before inserting the mag and make sure that the outer barrel is glued properly. Mine shot off at some one once which was funny but not, if you know what i mean.

*Hmmm Luger*

- nice

Yes, indeed..... But damned expensive too!

I will never recognise your SS rank!

Yes, the boots just fit, but only with my thinnest socks and no comfy insoles like I wear in all my other shoes (flat feet). The soles need some TLC from a cobbler - a complete rebuild really. It remains to be seen how my feet are after a day's skirmishing - Arnhem should be ok, but I think my short boots would be better running up and down hills, at places like GZ.

I see you need some discipline!

were they the largest size he had? I know he will change them if you need to. my east german boots were a little tight when i got them but they did loosen up nicely. after a few battles.

Yes, US size 13, or UK size 12 - they do not make them any larger than that! (Surely.) Whilst the uppers are in very good condition, the soles have obviously had quite a bit of use, so I don't think they will "break in" or stretch any more. We'll see....

Sweet toys, Chomley & Gliderrider!

I'm currently working on buying another Speed Graphic; This is more correct model to use for re-enactment. It does have the post-war graflex-back, which means I will be able to use my roll-film adapter instead of using the sheetfilm holders. Okay smaller negatives, but at least it's a workable format for me ;)
