Perhaps someone can tell me (Flib, webby?), which is the better colour for the Carbine, the tan or OD sling? Is the M3 sling more likely to be OD, as it's a late-war weapon? :?

Are we talking about the M3 Baby-sniper carbine with infra-red optics or the M3 Greasegun? (still the same sling ;))
The dark green colour was gradually introduced from (generally) 1943 onwards, but old stocks
of material were cleared out as well so you could've gotten a sling in either colour even in 1945.

Though I've spent my weekend at Centerparcs "De Vossemeren" I did manage to come home with an additional piece of ...
...something.
My friends bought me a frame with a poster of a French WW1 two-seater being attacked by some Hun Fokker E-3s. Their gift to me for the new house (I guess they didn't remember my B'day coming up next weekend  .) I think it will look nicely above the 1870s Piano :)

I meant the Grease Gun, but it's good to know. Currently, the tan sling is on the M3, as I can't be arsed to remove them both and figure out how to put them back on. :D

Actually, can I use either of those slings on a Thompson - until I get a nobuckl one, of course. :)

latest acquisitions are two big boxes of militaria that my dad picked up ages ago and can't be bothered to sell on ebay!

so far, i've found a german breadbag in there, a fair amount of (mainly postwar) brit kit, some soviet flags, and a rather interesting rucksack that may be german ww2.

I'll put up some photos when i get a chance, as i'll need some help ID'ing a fair bit of it! :D

Will do!

Dave Manning has a lot to answer for! hehehe

Had to replace the stock hop though, it was badly frayed! Got a Systemma Hop in there now, and it fires like a dream. No single fire selecter though, so hard to chrono! :)

Thanks Yith, I'll be selling my Carbine and M24 to help ease the cost. VFC do a lightweight repro of the bipod too which I have asked Dave to source for me... we'll see how much that costs.

Nice gun to have Webby! How much did Manning charge for it? (If you don't mind me asking?).

Same ones I've got on my K98 conversion. I think they look pretty good too and you can still use the open sights aswell which is a bonus!

“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."
Adolf Hitler, November 1942

"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."

New liner for my M1 helmet, a WW2-style belgian fiber one courtesy of Taffpara. It's niiiiice. Hope it fits better than my Swedish (?) grey plastic one.

Got it home, looks wicked in the pot, but it still doesn't fit! I'm beginning to wonder if it's the pot itself which is buggered. Ah well, time to get some duct tape and do a Diggah on it. The other thing is the suspension; having looked it up on a few websites, it's definitely a US type suspension, with a high sweatband and a nape wotsit, but the Swedish one was much more secure on my head, the sweatband being lower and level around my head. I'm not really sure how to tweak it to make it secure on my bonce, perhaps someone has some tips?

Finally, now I have a perfect condition liner with everything intact, and I fancy a project. I'm sure I read somewhere about them being painted for pecial purposes, like MP and drill squads. What would be smart and more importantly in an Airsoft context?

Mods feel free to stick these questions elsewhere on the forum if you feel they're taking up space or will be more noticeable.
