Loosening 2-part epoxy ?

When I got my ASG Sten, I fixed all the loose screws with thread lock and the heat shield with Evo-stick rapid metal 2-part epoxy, as was the general advice at the time.
However .......... I want to remove the heat shield to swap out a Lanchester/MP28 front end.

Any suggestions on how to loosen/remove the epoxy as it's solid now ?
The only idea that I've found online is to heat it but as the Sten is an alloy/monkey metal I'm concerned that enough heat to possibly soften the epoxy would warp/damage the block ?

How to remove epoxy:

Although it says 200 degrees to soften, I've often found (from repairing casserole lids dropped on the floor by clumsy children), that the heat from boiling water is enough to pull the join apart.

Cheers :)

Heat seems to be the key, but as per my first, I'm concerned too much heat will damage the block.

I was hoping that there may be a 'chemical' that could be gently introduced that would loosen the bonds ??

I might just leave it be and try to work around it; it wouldn't look as tidy but it could only be an impression of the MP28 anyway as I would want to fairly easily swap between the two.

You should be able to remove all the plastic bits that might deform or melt unless its glued into the main body of the gun, i don't know a chemical to remove epoxy ,acetone will work on supere glue but i'm not sure it touches epoxy but it might be worth a try as super glue is also a two part epoxy with the second part being airborne moisture or so i believe .

To be fair to ASG, the majority of the Sten is actually steel, the exception seeming to be the mounting block for the heat shield and hop unit.

200deg C should be fine for even pot metal or aluminium. You'll not be melting it in your oven. I find epoxy gives way pretty easily with heat so you will be safe doing it like that.
