Well I have been looking out for a new watch, as my last one broke completely (oh well it was a £5 plastic orrible one) and I came across this by chance:

Is it a good repro?
Is it good value?
Any other reccomendations for around that price range? (I don't want to spend >£40)

I used to have one. It isn't a perfect repro, more style-of. The reason I sold it? It is huge and heavy (as they were) - I just couldn't wear it every day and even it games I felt it was a liability. The watch itself is solid in construction and the strap is nice so I'd say the price is fine too. Dunno about the movement though - all cheap watches have cheap works!

Put it on your wrist before purchase!

It's not a repro of anything . Had mine a year , works fine, wear it one day in 3 or there abouts. It's a little silly as most Germans would have used pocket not wristwatches but perfectly fine as a cheap timepiece for in the field .

Really, not a repro of the beobachter urh? The face is a different colour but they were made as repros with black faces too, I have one somewhere.

I agree the movements can be rather cheap but mine has been going for at least 5 years with multiple battery and strap changes.

Not a repro? I beg to differ. It is a repro. The originals cost in the thousands! Usually had a black dial though, but you can get repros with that too.

Well I bought it and it came today, I really like it (although I can see what you mean about it being heavy). We'll have to see how reliable it is :good:

I have to confess i went a bit watch crazey this xmas

so i had parents in law buy me a Bulova Military Strap Watch 96A102
which is awsome really good quality and looks well smart. The fabric and leather strap whilst not authentic to ww2 is the mutts nutss for comfort.

I fully recommend. Although i word mine at the ex site last sunday and managed to get a split in the lens grrrr. Possibly a bb hit but more likely a rock i flipped onto.

poooo great watch £80 from some sellars £105 from others

also i bought myself a Parnis watch off ebay these have wind up movements but are built bigger and come from hong kong.
Have to say its rarther good they do a fairly plain one.

£48-67 odd pounds and again well worth it, but a big target area fro BBS loads of my mates comment on it and 3 have bought their own. I think its the movement that gets em.

this is the chap
parnis military wind up MK6 watch classic 6497

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/parnis-milita ... 3cba9eaa1a

Have to say feels quality to me

Nice! Sadly the strap on mine's been a bit dodgy, so I've had to buy a replacement because I don't want it falling off my wrist again! Other than that it's great!
