Right guys, here's a scenario idea! It's just a rough idea of what we could do! Don't be overly critical and lets keep the input positive and constructive!

Scenario
On the 12 August 1944, the German Seventh Army and Fifth Panzer Army are being pushed back across France, pursued by the British & Canadians from the North and the Americans and Free French from the South. They are eventually trapped between the four towns of Trun, Argentan, Vimoutiers and Chambois near Falaise in France. This became known as the Falaise Gap or Chambois Pocket. The allies initially planned to close the pocket and trap over 100,000 German troops; Recon units from the British and American forces with the objective of meeting up and guiding the armies together with out friendly fire incidents; set out in to the Gap.

ALLIED OBJECTIVE:
• Recon the area and link up with allied reconnaisance units.
• Hold two key positions against German attack.

AXIS OBJECTIVE:
• Overrun Allied positions and reach Allied regen point.

Details
Unfortuntely for all you Kraut boys during the retreat over 500 German armoured units were knocked out by the USAAF and RAF 2nd TAC and a lot of the armour left was either abandoned or ran out of fuel so there’ll be no armoured support.

Allied Side Plots
I thought for side plots to include; we could have a downed aircrew. The objective being that when the game starts they will escape and evade the German forces and link up with the Allied recon forces.

For another I thought, the Allies could have the objective of capturing a retreating German high ranking officer. Gives some of the CiA Organisers a chance to get those nice pressed German tunics and pantaloons dusty. All you have to decide is who plays Walter Model!

Allies must capture German intel. Certain German players will be provided with important intelligence. Allied units will be required to search captured and killed Kraut units and return any important documents to the commanding officer.

Axis Side Plots
In the afternoon; German side plot/objective will be to attempt to knock out the tank (which will be required to travel back to the regen point [limit of 2-3 regens possibly?])

Capture Allied Commanding Officer.

Germans to destroy Allied Artillery piece.

How does it sound?

You've got lots going on there, seems fine to me.

Just need to book a site and make it happen now.

Is that the axis objective for the whole day then? hypothetically what happens if they steamroller th lalies int he first hour and get everyone there, also how do the allies regen if the germans ar eon top of their regen point?

Have you thought those out?

Sounds pretty good for an initial draft :D

Suggest your next step is to get to the site and see how it would play out on the ground , and see if you can get a date out of them . Bear in mind the size of site will dictate how many players can be accomodated which in turn will set the price. Working on the details will come after that . Keep up the good work and keep us updated ! . :D

Perhaps the Allies could have a fall-back position which can't be overrun, from which they can launch counterattacks if their CP is taken?

Sounds very good, Spiers. :)

Another tip for planning an event.

work out everything you can think of that could go wrong

you shoudl end up wiht a list of five to ten things,

e.g no one turns up, the weather is awful, you have far too many allies etc..

assign a vlaue to each of these 'disasters' of 1 - 10 wiht how serious it would be for the event if it happened. The assign a likelihood of said thing happening, again between 1-10.

Times severity by likelihood and you geta risk factor, concentrate on making sure the things with highest risk factor get sorted and have back up plans first.

Used that system for five years with GW events and never had a major balls up cos of it.

sounds good so far spiers,

depending on time of year, weather can be a problem (churchills) even though on paper june would be an IDEAL date

some things cant be planned for, freak weather being one,

but if an autum / winter game is in the offing, either urban/dense forrest reduce the weather effects somewhat, as people can find some cover from the elements (though you have said normandy as a theme, and it was mostly bocage and small towns .

but good ideas so far mate.
also try not to plan it to close to another ww2 event, as some people may not be flash for cash, and may choose one or the other and not both.

hope this helps, its just my ideas thats all

Thanks for the encouragement, I'll sort out a site next and probably be looking at around APRIL/MAY next year? Does that fit in with other CiA events and stuff like that? If I run in to any king size problems any chance of the organisers giving me some help?
