I asked Che about this but as he's got jaockboots for costume and my dads old RAF combats for general clarting about skrimishing he hasn't been much help. He said there was a multitude on Sunday and wasn't that observant so couldn't really help with this purchase
So it was suggested I ask you lot. So is there a preference on them, do you go with typical military ones or more modern styled magnum ones ?
Thanks in advance

For re-enacitng i wear hobnailed ammo boots, for airsoft thats suicidal in urba so i wear black rubber soled jungle boots with gaiters over the top

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
I found I couldn't get gaitors around my really, really comfy Magnums so had to resort to much less comfortable army-surplus assault boots.
But then I switched to jackboots for added flashness. Flashness has it's price though, my feet were shot to bits by the end of Sunday - steel heels on concrete all day is very harsh.
Suesue on eBay has good looking post-war boots on at the moment for

I wear ammo boots in woodland and DMS boots in urban. Hobnails and concrete are nor a good idea.
Again, British Gaiters will not go around my super comfy 5.11 boots that I wear with my modern loadout.
I believe suesue maybe where Che and Carl got their boots from. However I think the mission to find me a pair of jackboots in a size four, may be mission impossible
hence the assault boot and gaiter option.
These are the last 2 things I need to purchase and then its the waiting whilst it all arrives.

I use the old style Brit high leg boots (BCH - Boots, Combat, High) - not the later "Assault boots". I have no problems getting them under gaiters. I do have, and use, Jackboots, but vastly prefer a proper pair of lace-up boots!

When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........
For airsoft I use my uber comfy Magums, they are my second skin, just rap puttees around them so they arnt that obviouse or use large gaiters. if im doing brit and when im doing German, I use brit Hi legs That iv been waering for 7 years thanks to the (Falschirmjeager)
Obviusly for renactment its genuine Hob naild period boots, regardless of surface, unless its a dance, then its no 2 officers dress with brogues re soled in rubber.

I have jackboots now, but I also have British Army boots, which come half way up the shin. Initially, I had the problem with the gaiters not going round them - until Warren suggested just putting another hole in the straps! It works!

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Thats a good tip something I probably wouldn't have thought of
ta steiner I shall bear that in mind once I've found some lil boots.

Holes in straps?
Whats wrong with using friction?
I don't know... Strange German people... lol
Helga - just a silly thought that came into my head, but if you want sturdy, old-fashioned looking ankle boots in a small size... have you considered looking at safety wear boots? My wife's Tesco-supplied ones could easily pass for Fallschirmjaeger jump boots! ![]()

Hmmm....... jackboots........ especially for the ladies .....
Played once in modern boots and gaitors , nowplay all the time in jackboots. Where else do you put your stick grenades ?
PS there was at least 1 airborne wearing German gaitors at Arnhem ... ![]()

I nearly lent him some British ones... good job I didn't as Matt needed them in the end.
cool some good options, thanks. Safety boot wise, I have a pair of steel toe capped boots and I couldn't imagine trying to run in them
they weigh an absolute ton
I just ain't going to ask about the below comment

You can get safety-type footwear that is not steel toecap. As for Herr Oldsweat.... I hear he's been trying to source some size 11 high heeled jackboots for himself! ![]()

thanks to steiner, my russain jackboots he brought were so comfy,
first time on at the game, and not a single blister, its like they were made from cotton not leather. (ive never had a pair of boots so comfy that needed NO breaking in)
only problem was their 3 inches too tall, so ill need to trim em down, other wise they are more or less the same as german ww2 issue.

I'm sure I've seen photos of jackboots of various heights - although I may be wrong. Perhaps the taller ones were early war??
