I've seen quite few custom gun built on forum and each had decent paint job done on them!
I've bought a SHOEI MP44 not too long ago and plan to apply a realistic blueing looking paint for the recivers. The magazine and the forgrip were both Gun Steel and was well blued with gun blueing, but the recievers were made of Zinc Alloy so blueing does not work...
Are there any recommandation of what paint i should get to create a realistic blueing feeling?
This is what i am trying to achieve : )

There is a range by Humbrol called 'metal coat' Best spayed on if you can. Once they've gone dry you polish them with a soft cloth and it lokks like poshed metal. There is a shade that looks almost black but poishes up to gun blue. Not sure how hard wearing it is though and sometimes putting a coat of laqure over the top affects the blueing. I used it all the time on a heat of old model guns I found at an antique fair. Think they were made by MGC, came with plastic rounds and ejected cartidges when cocked. Sold in thge 80's and possibly early 90's.
Here's the paint. It's very cheap so I'd assume it's a small (e.g. 25ml) tin. I have had a look and am thinking of using this if my steel wool attempt to an age an MP40 doesn't work. My idea is:
1) Buy paint and a cheap £20 airbrush from a model shop
2) rub the metal parts of the gun right down
3) Apply a single coat of the Aluminuim paint
4) Apply to coats of gunmetal paint
5) A light rub down with steel wool then a gentle Dremel polish
It used to work on plastic when I was a nipper so...
