Does anyone have a copy or know where to find a letter/template that would be filled in to allow the import of a RIF?

Last time I bought from outside the UK was before the VCRA came into force.

I have sourced a RIF abroad and want to import it and have it pass through HMRC without problems.

Yes, I do have appropriate defence to do so.

Thanks,

Del

Whenever I (or a friend) have had to do this I have simply emailed the company or written in the comments section whilst paying asking for my Ukara number to be printed clearly on the exterior of the package, never had a problem with warnings about imports etc. Customs charges though.........

Please print on outside of box "TO UK BATTLE RE-ENACTOR AFRA/UKARA No1234* contact 01****** "

That is all you need.

I made this, uploaded it as a .jpg, and send the link to the seller, asking them to print it and use it as the address label, when I buy RIF's from overseas:

it's an old one, but you get the idea.

Cheers. Just for reference, the times I've used this, the parcels came straight through customs really quickly. According to the tracking site, it only stayed at their depot for a day or so each time, so I reckon it does help to put a decent disclosure on the front.

I had the same experience with the last package I had from Redwolf, they had printed out the scan I'd done of the two sides of my AFRA card so that it filled an A4 sheet and stuck that to the parcel, sailed through with no problems at all :D , unlike the package with 2 metal thompson recievers which took 6 weeks to prise loose from customs

Is anyone having customs problems using the AFRA system?

I have go 2 items seemingly in delay and keep getting UKARA emails saying my membership has expired.

Have told the exporters to state my AFRA details but seem to be having a problem.

So the problem isn't one with AFRA, it is how the exporter have marked the package? Have you been in contact with the customs office and given them the correct information?

I have been expecting a letter but nothing has come to me, I just get emails that they are looking at UKARA.

An other reason I ask is becaue they are items from 2 different exporters.

I have rang Customs 03002003700 but they say it is held at the UKBA and nothing to do with them, so they gave me a number no one answers

Have contacted RSOV and they say they have put the info on as requested which has always worked fine in the past.
It could be that if UKBA see it in one parcel they will wake up over the other eventually. Still no letter from UKBA but I suppose they are slow compared to the postage company once it has cleared UKBA.

Both exporters have said they clearly wrote the details on the box.

I have had this email about 3 times.

UKARA Online Database - Player Search Failed

A retailer (UKBA) has just performed a search against your membership number. However, the validation has failed for the reason(s) highlighted in red below.

EXPIRED MEMBERSHIP

Your membership has expired and has not yet been renewed by your skirmish site. Please contact your site to update your membership details on the UKARA database. Once the site has updated the details, you can then contact UKBA to advise them that it is OK to recheck your membership details

That has nothing to do with AFRA?
We have no connection to UKARA.

Yes I know mate it has puzzled me.

RSOV didn't want to send me the item without UKARA No but they have been like that before and all has worked fine.

All I can think is that the UKBA people are just working as robots and not reading the parcels and just using UKARA database. I presume they can put my name and address in to the UKARA database and get my expired ID from 2009.

I've had the same experience, initially I had a parcel held but nobody would tell me why so as the parcel contained airsoft spares I assumed someone had mistakenly decided that I needed to cover myself under the VCRA so I provided my AFRA details and the response was 'AFRA? what part of UKARA is that?' it took 8 weeks to get my parcel and what really pissed me off was the fact that what was in the parcel wasn't even subject to the VCRA, trouble is there's a lot of people working in this area both for shipping companies and for customs who haven't read the relevant parts of the VCRA and are taking the stance that if it's something to do with airsoft then the recipient has got to be on the UKARA database or they don't get their parcel :slap: of course if you happen to get lucky and the person dealing with your parcel knows what's going on then there's no problem at all, when I ordered some western guns from hong kong just before christmas a couple of years ago I had them less than a week later.

Yes Pete that is the norm for me quite quick, you don't by any chance have a phone number for UKBA do you?
I had one a few years back that they would answer on but now you just get the Carlsberg complaints number

If you do PM me it!

The UKBA have now stated that I need to send them full insurance details that AFRA have before they will post out.
FAX to 02476212912 or post only no email option.
