1. Richard Underwood. I ordered some GD shoulderboards online. Nothing happened for a week. I phoned him, on the advice of Kermit. He says yes, GD shoulderboards, I shall put them in the post today. He takes my money. The parcel arrives - it contains plain shoulderboards. I email him to say that they're no good - I needed GD, as he well knew - he's supposed to be an expert, for crying out loud. I returned them 1st class. Nothing happens. I email him - please refund me when you get them. OK he says. Nothing happens. I email him again twice more - have you received them yet? No reply. It's now 2 weeks since I returned them, and he still hasn't refunded me.
Utterly crap service - avoid.

Great idea steiner, i should imagine with the ww2 airsoft taking off the way it is , a lot of money will be spent by people "kitting out". If people think they can give CRAP customer service ( and i mean any retailer not just steiners example), then lets try and steer people away.
Anyone else whos had good or bad service post here. lets let people know the good the bad and the ugly.
I ordered some panzer shoulder boards from SOLDIER OF FORTUNE, the coulour was more red than pink, i phoned and was told he had a new batch coming in and to return the "dark"ones. within a week , i have lovley pink ones. GOOD service for me.

Well, 17 days since Mr Underwood received my shoulderboards back and he says (after numerous emails) that he's refunded me.

got mine from militaria-net, arrived next day (the ones GD ones on the jacket), I did look at richard underwoods but the stuff I wanted was not quite right on his site 
so I ordered nothing from him.

yes he's brilliant... I sent him a post on Tuesday night about some insignia... he replied immediately and then on Wednesday made them and put them in the post... I got them today and they great!
I bought a gasmask canister from him(Underwood) as I thought the SoF ones looked in poor condition - bad mistake !!
I wore it at Arnhem and compared to the other one's I saw there it's bad.
I now need to strip the paint off and redo, it's got more surface rust than paint

I ordered some bling on Saturday, they processed it on Tuesday (the next business day), it arrived this morning (Wednesday). Big thumbs up.

I've had similar experiences re Underwood. Uniform and equipment quality is, in my experience, pretty darn good - I have an AG wrap, trousers, ankle boots, gaiters, etc. and they're all excellent - but he's quite pricey and VERY SLOW at replying to e-mails and getting stuff corrected. I waited literally months to have my m43 ski cap sorted.
Nick Morigi - highly recommended. Good quality regalia - virtually everything you could ever need, certainly for German impressions, and fantastic service. I ordered an SS side cap on a Thursday and was opening it in bed on the Saturday morning! Needless to say, I had to try it on -

I have some rotten luck from sof from time to time, colour of things not being great, but I think they have bitten the bullet and have binned the rubbish coloured stuff, they're usually quite good, although sometimes it takes a few times to get it right. I have broken a Repro Garand Belt of theirs just by turning the buckle to put it on, 20 seconds out of the packet and it was broken! Settled for spending almost 3 times as much and getting a genuine one.
SOF sell some rubbish, I had a load of their orange US webbing, I even tried to wash & bleach it & it went even worse, I had a brand new repo US pistol belt that looked great, after 1 day the eylets has come out where the .45 & holster was hanging, I rang them up to order some stuff to confirm they had it in & only got 1/2 the stuff because they never had it, did get it in the end but waited a few weeks,

I've had crap stuff off most of the dealers mentioned to be honest, and from reading on re-enactor forums, the best bet seems to go to a fair or show and see what you're buying before parting with your cash.
Yes, if you buy enough stuff off someone, sooner or later they're going to let you down. Nobody's perfect. I had a bit of duff gear from SoF, but overall I really like them - they are helpful and try hard to give a good service.
Well, another two thumbs up for Nick at regaliaspecialist - my jacket from Barry arrived late Wednesday without the promised chest eagle (just an oversight on his part - I rate him highly), which left me in a fix. I'm travelling later this morning up to Phoenix Urban for a weekender.
On discovering this omission at 5.45pm, I went to Nick's website and ordered one, and replied to the confirmatory mail, asking if he could do it extra fast. He replied then and there - yes he could. Posted Thursday morning, arrived here this morning (Friday), with a free catalogue.

I'd just like to add to my comments regarding Epic Militaria - I ordered a pair of Y-straps earlier in the week and they arrived in perfect nick within 2-3 days - very reasonably priced - and Julian has been excellent at returning my e-mail questions and queries. I'm thinking of buying an m43 tunic soon and asked him for one or two photos - he sent them within hours - looks good quality and at
LOL - i placed an order with Militaria-net last night as well. Wonder whose kit will turn up first?
On another note, im extremely impressed with At The Front. Ordered on the 15th, here on the 17th. Not bad for kit that had to travel from Kentucky to Berkshire!

I've had similar experiences with toy soldiers ordered from the good ol' yankee doodles - cheaper than buying in the UK AND they arrive faster - quite remarkable really when you consider the massive yawn of clear blue water there is between us -

The actual way its calculated is Duty charged on the items and the shipping costs, then VAT on top of that lot. Then PF/FEDEX/UPS add their "clearence fee" on top of that. Normally, i just guesstimate an additional 20% plus clearance fee above the total order cost.
On that note, i'm currently in discussion with HMR&C about paying them the VAT & Duty directly, instead of the carrier being charged, then passing the cost, plus their "clearence fee" onwards....
ATF aint cheap, but the stuff is pretty good quality, and they stock some items that are difficult to find elsewhere (hardware for rucksacks/Y straps etc etc)
