doing some plans for the winter for a stuart light tank,

thinking about useing two mountain bikes as a chassy,
welded bars to form a square with the wheals on each corner, all housed inside a shell of the tank hull,

the plan is to make the tank light for a smallish trailer i have or to go on the back of a pick up,

they will be pedal powered, with a 3 man crew, two peddlers and a gunner,
the gunner will stand in the middle of the two bikes, he can allso jump down and help push from the inside of the tank hull, if the going gets to hard for the pedal power,

armourment,
2 MG,s
1 cannon, ( bolt action rifle)

Why not the version with 5 .30 MGs? The M3 Honey. 8)

2 for the driver, 1 for the RTO, 1 for the gunner, and 1 external AA mounted one ;)

Interested to see what you can cook up.
M5 Light Tank, might be a little easier to construct.

Sounds great to me Warren if it's pedal power where is the H&S risk it's a good way round the problem.
Even a tubular frame with painted canvas for a body would work, like mock ups used to fool recon planes in WW2.
It would be light to transport and the turret could be removed and put inside the body while in transit.

Sorry I was slow seeing this thread I have been busy, I got 45 Mph towing tank but on a long flat road I could get 50. However our summer returned when I was coming home, yes it pissed down so speed was reduced to 30-35. WW2 bar grips tyres and towing a tank in the wet are not a good combination.

Have you guys seen Lulu Bell?
She is made of wood, it's the M3 Grant tank out of the film Sahara.
It has wheels under it to push it along.

Sahara is a great movie in my opinion. The original with Bogart is best, the remake's not bad either.

As for Dutchies and bicycles....I'd prefer taking my car everywhere I go. :)

now that is a good film, seen the old and new and like bouth equally,

that would mate for a grate baceis for a skirmish :)

i think it,l solve a lot of problems with transport wich means we could use it a lot more often,

may have a lead on the bikes, a local bike hire place may have about 20 going for peanuts, i,l see what i can get hold of :)

so was the grant un-powed and just a push along prop,

Mr_Flibble :)

Many of the Shermans used in 'A Bridge too far' worked the same way as LuluBelle. Look and you will see the wheels underneath on some vehicles.

The Tanks in 'Die Brucke' were not as well done as in a BTF, but they were built around a VW-chassis if I recall correctly. And you could see the wheels better a bit better. They did get blown up with Panzerfausts though.

BTW that is a home built replica of the Sahara M3 not made for the film.
You can see it sits just above the ground.

Here is a email from the sellers of the panzer I can send you the PDF over if anyone PM's me their address.

Hi
We now have the brochure back from the printers, and i have attached one as requested, and as you can see by the figures, if you had 4 machines at just 8 hours a week usage, it would bring you in just under half a million pounds, over the 3 years payment plan, so they would pay for themselves 42 times over, if you know of a better investment, i have yet to see it.

As these are a completely new product, it will bring back all the people, who have done quads, karts, etc are do not want to do them again. And as a marketing tool for paintball / laser tag what could be better than infantry and armour?

PS Warren you may have a good idea, sell them to sites.
