Fally trousers are baggy and tend to fall over the tops of the boots. Simples. Reality no one would really notice the tops anyway.
cut the top 3 inches of the boots .
*facepalm*
How do I cover the tops of the BCH? or just don't bother?
You don't bother, German paratroop boots were highleg laced and came in a couple of flavours - side or front.
I'd query knee pads with a very late war smock.
The pads were for jumping with the german type of shoot that dropped you face down causing you to land on your knees and elbows, from all accounts i've read they were quite quickly binned.
The late war smock came in when most FJ were not even jump trained.
Up to you but a bit of a weird mix IMO.

Its a fair point

I was considering wearing them under the trousers to protect my knees, but meaning they aren't visable.
I think thats a good idea but i think the fact they were uncomfortable and binned by the guys asap means you might be better wearing lightweight modern pads under your trousers?
By all means a lovley bit of kit to maybe wear in your first game or just to have but might look better with a plain green or splinter smock.
Depends if you want a generic FJ impression or a specific period i suppose.
I think it looks liek some great kit anyway Angel.
BTW we've put FJ in the St Lo game now if you fancy playing!

I mean you're right to be honest the knee pads really scream 'Falshy' at you and cement the look.
When i said first few games i sort of meant, wear them at the beginning of the day to simulate 'just landed' and then if they are a pain in the bum bin them later!
Grange farm isnt too hard to get to and we also have camping and a social the night before. Plus im sure others from down south willbe travelling.

The choice of sumpf was a group decision, born largely out of wanting to be different, but unified. The whole team wanted to do FJ, but saw a lot of splinter already on the field.
The problem with all of you going sumpfmuster, other than it limits you to quite late war, is that they weren't that common. They were usually outnumbered by splinter smocks and often older green ones too so having a whole unit using them might look odd. Of course it may not matter as it depends on how big your team is and how accurate you intend to be.
Nice pic and load out Choc.
nice choc, how attached are you to those brit assualt boots? if you scrub the polish and black dye off with steel wool and meths,(or white spirit) ,spray them brown, you have a pair of passible yank jump boots untill you can afford corcarans.
Good pics guys.
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Pics look great guys, Choc nice effect on the pic. Get yourself some camo scrim strips for your helmet.
Show me a man who will jump out of an airplane, and I'll show you a man who will fight!

I think it feels lonely in the office surrounded by German uniforms, and Helga MKII is no help at all to it as she's 'armless .....
Looks like she's lost her head too.
mmm, i see what you mean. But would replacements or newly raised units be issued whatever was to hand? So although sumpf smocks didn't form a large % in the overall scheme of things (amoung however many thousand FJ's fought), its plausible that a dozen guys would be issued sumpf smocks at the same time?
It would be possible but extremely unlikely to have a whole squad wearing sumpfmuster smocks. The mix of types that would be likely to be in any stores would see to that. Plus often the veterans (as all soldiers like gucci kit) would exhange their old smock for a nice new one when they arrived. Leaving the newbies with their old cast offs rather getting issued the new kit; ensuring a mix of kit and making it difficult to identify who was an old hand and who was a new recruit.
Since you've already painted you helmet perhaps a more accurate way of having a team identity would be to have your own helmet camouflage paint scheme? Units would often paint all their helmets at the same time so would all have the same pattern, giving them a unique identity. Then you'd look authentic and unique when playing together.
