Can anyone point me to the video on youtube? Could not find it. Thanks.
probably this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvFJVfihzuI .
always irks me how 'low' on the "WW2 airsfot" search Martins vids are. I mean all airsoft does not film well, but he is a man who know how to edit so they are by far the best of the bunch.
Hmmm, very surprised at the outburst and a shame it soured an otherwise entertaining thread - all over a funny joke (any a nice side-step from the predictable 'I don't like' comments previous). And that moment in the video was funny. Just as funny as seeing adults (of all shapes and sizes and accents) tit around pretending to be soldiers. It didn't have anything to do with hard work organisers put in and it wasn't a criticism. Just a joke. And could also have been at Kie's expense or indeed, by extension, anyone not speaking in French/Polish/German/Russian.
Anyway, beyond that, for all the newbies reading this thread (thinking OMG, this WW2 lark is going to be impossible) I hope it is obvious that what matters to some people doesn't to others and there is no way in hell anyone is going to pull off a perfect impression. A few get close but none perfect. What matters is you make the best job you can with the time and money available to you and that you respect your fellow players and the effort they have made. You won't be judged and kit is only half the story - as others have said, it is the mindset you enter the game with and creating the fantasy in your own mind that you are back in the 1940's on the front line.
For the most convincing WW2 airsoft video watch Martin's newsreel. Smashing. And only one accent and it's the right one.

That is definitely the bestest one.
back on track , ear ring's and other piercings do ruin it for me and subtle ones could be used if needed .

I do occasionally think about taking mine out but the one at the top of my ear is a bugger to get back in again, hopefully a helmet covers it most of the time.

as I never knew you had one/some you can safely assume 'yes' is the answer.
top of the ear wont be seen but large obvious ones is all i mean , it's one of the obvious non period item's like a digital watch.

Yeah, I always take all of mine out, and use a flesh coloured silicon plug to hide the bloody great hole in my lobe. I also try and make sure my hair tied up and is tucked up inside my cap/beret/helmet.

it was actually the comparison to what you do that brought it to mind , i could tell if i looked that you wore ear ring's but you had done a good job of mineralising their impact , i think it was the same day i saw some huge black hoop type ones that were really obvious , it was not Martin either but a younger lad toe dipping into ww2.
i guess it all depends on the type of games you'r at ,entry level games and new players have to be encouraged rather than criticized and to be fair half these thing's i've probably seem at the easier entry games and i was probably as bad myself , i got a bit too gung-ho at my first game , makes me cringe now.

my apologies , my comments were in jest only and i meant no offence .
Fair enough and, thankyou. What people don't realise or, seem to appreciate about that video and that event, is how much work went into it. CiA worked REALLY hard at that one. It was the first full on Red Army vs Germans game and, we took a big risk organising it. Also, it was the first time, anyone did a "whistle charge", ordered "not a step backwards", etc, all thing now done at every Russian front game. It also meant that other organisers could organise Russian themed games off the back of it, as there was now a player base with the right kit. Now, if that's not trying to create an atmosphere and a mindset for players, I don't know what is.
I do apologise if I caused any offence. The video in question was amazing, I don't usually watch many airsoft videos but it had me hooked to the point where a regional accent actually had the effect of reminding me that those aren't actually Russians I'm watching. My comments were not meant to be taken seriously.
Another spoiler... remembered as a result of one of the other threads.
Sidearms...
and scopes on rifles...
i think the scopes on rifles is a huge cultural must have in normal airsoft , and people just can't get past the sniper rifle , in fact getting enough people to adopt a "battle rifle" is still hard in our own little world, I'm probably as guilty as the rest ,i take rifles to every game then i look at what everybody else is carrying and lose my principals and grab an aeg, i wonder how many other's do the same ?

Funny you should mention that, I was just pondering the possibility of mounting a 4x long-relief scope on my ZB26...

I guess my plan to mount a red dot, laser, torch and UGL using one of these on my sten is a no then?
