Yup, the guys are spot on. The "party" armband was for political units/Allgemeine SS only.

Long leather overcoat, Party armband, Officers visor cap. Closest unit that's to is the Gestapo. Many see Waffen-SS impressions as "pushing it", Allgemeine-SS (Gestapo, SD, KZ guards) may be an impression too far for some...

I concur.

Allgemaine and Freikorps groups are the two no-nos IMHO.

I agree, steer away from the 'units' mentioned.
However, you already have a black panzer uniform , continue the 'panzer' theme on to include the coat.

Voila'

(but Rommel wasn't in the SS though  )

it was a private event not a public one so no peeps to offend etc hence the party armband on the jacket, not that it was worn after the first game bloody hot stuff wearing a full cow :P

usual will be a reversible oak leaf smock from soldier of fortune although i dont have any pics of that in action, just received a pea dot tunic and a splinter/snow reversable smock so a little spoilt for choice

comments are welcome, as i said not going for 100% historical its airsoft and its all about fun and taking part after all

cheers guys

yep the red party armband was general run of the mill, the SS version would have a black line above and below the insignia.

Yeah know where you are coming from.

It was one of our decisions as organisers with regards to really overt nazi symbology though you see.

Cos you, I and 90 per cent of the gamers will understand its just classic imagery from the time... *However* we only need one dog walker or lost car boot saler to see a dozen guys running around with battle flags and swastika armbands before we appear in the Nottingham evneing post as a neo nazi society.

We've asked players not to use the raised arm nazi salute for the same reasons - not even for comedy value allo allo style..

Papers would love that, it would sell tons of copies :)

So we're erring on the side of caution.

You're combat loadout sounds ideal though.

Glad you see where were coming from and dont take offence.

One thing we are defionatly abou is not need ing to be bang on historical accurate.. we are happy with 'counts as' and general 'looks about right'

my most interesting piece is a 12ft by 8ft kriegsmarine battle flag... (off the bismark honest) its stored you cant have that hanging on a wall and someone looking through the window
