Hi Again all,
later this year i am planning on either customizing my current kit, or starting a new one, and theme it on Gebirgsjager,
First question of many (in the future im sure), the edelweiss cap badge, i have seen a few options online, was this a sewn on patch or a metal badge of some sort?!
Thanks
John
Splendid.
Metal badge sown onto the bergmutze cap (slightly different to the M43 field cap). Embroidered cloth badge sown onto the right sleeve.See Pride of England's excellent article here...

i think after the early part of the war they mainly had standard heer ones , sure pride will tell us more
Berghosen were wide cut trousers with a narrow taper, reinforced crotch a pronounced seam down the front and canvas or leather straps at the ankle. M43 hosen look fairly similar. You only need get Berghosen if your sad like me though. And yes as Chris said they could be issued standard hosen especially as supplies became tighter late in the war
As above, normal trousers are fine (although my wartime dated Swedish trousers are cut in a very similar cut to bergehosen including the taper). You can't see the the trouser straps anyway because you'll be wearing puttees.
Metal cap badge, cloth arm badge and jager shoulderboards. Job done. (and maybe puttees, I use old British Army short ones).
Cheers

The later war standard issue M43 trousers were cut to a similar style as the Berghosen, but without the smart crease down the front. Go for M43's and you are pretty close regardless.
