Hi guys,
I've taken the plunge and bought myself a set of Stug crewman trousers from ebay.
I was going to ask for any advice/guidance on what else i will need for this load out as i'm new to the german kit.
Thanks Craig.

Assault gunner uniform seems to be a bit more complicated than infantry and you'd be advised to do a lot of research before splashing out any more money. You'll see pictures of Großdeutschland gunners wearing black or green wraps with death's head collar tabs, whereas Panzer Lehr are shown wearing army Litzen. Waffen SS did something else again - in fact I think the cut of the SS wraps was different. Then there's what Waffenfarbe to have...etc, etc.

In short it's bit of a challenge to get it all right.

It's not a brilliant website, but these guys might be a place to start:

To follow the title, Heer Assault gun crewman, you need to add to your trousers the following;
Field grey wrap, you will need a chest eagle, a bevo grey one would not be far off.
Shoulder boards, field grey edged in red for assault gun.
Litzen, usually the field grey rhomboid, red piped version with the panzer skull. Later in the war the skulls were ordered to be removed. It did happen though some crews hung on to theirs.
Plain black leather belt with Heer buckle in steel, zinc or aluminium.
Cap, side cap or ski cap style field grey with bevo insignia, dont buy wool ones for an M43 cap. Almost unheard of.
Some Assault gun crews wore steel helmets when exposed in hatches or open crew compartments.
A pistol was often worn, small ones like the PPK were popular as they dont get in the way like a full frame auto.
Boots, jackboot or low boot type often worn without studs.
To be more exotic as others have mentioned some Panzer grenadier units wore the field grey wrap as did SPW crews. If you want that you need to do some more asking as that is where it gets complicated. Windhund, Lehr and GD all had units that sported them.
Half track crew gives you other options for insignia and more webbing.
The reed green panzer denims have huge big pockets just perfect for magazines.
Good luck.

Thompy if you want my honest opinion, flog them on and go for a Heer loadout! Field Grey line infantry will be the way to go, Grey is the new black, but if you like Black piping and want to be assoiciated with an up and coming unit then look out for news in December for the Sturmpioniere. Glad to have you on the dark side even if you're only swinging both ways

grey cap - assault gunners were classed as artilliary, not tank troops

Poacher mentioned earlier about the RED waffenfarbe :)
