Greetings,

I'm finally taking the plunge into WW2 Airsoft after promising myself for 2 years now. I've looked at kit before, but I would really appreciate you kind folks helping me fill in the blanks on the best place to get other items from. Below I have compiled a list of what I plan to get already.

Helmet
Steel M35 Helmet in Field Green

£55 - Militaria online

Uniform
M43 Army Field Tunic Jacket Including Trousers

£75 - Militaria online

Winter Wear
M40 Green Woollen Greatcoat

£60 - ww2sale

What I need to find to start of with is:
Collar insignia
Chest eagle
Leather belt
Heer Belt Buckle
Y-Strap
And other kit you would recommend.

I've looked around and I have seen plenty of places that sell the above, but I would like a lil info on what is best suited. Essentially I want the "look" to be as regular as possible.

I tend to get eagles, collar insignia etc from Epic Militaria. Probably not the best but entirely adequate and relatively cheap. Epic militaria also do reasonable repro belts and cheap aluminium repro belt buckles, better quality ones cost more and originals are quite expensive.

Along with basic kit you actually need you've got most of it, you also need some weapon specific ammo pouches and I would strongly recommend a bag for your bits (bread bag) and a water bottle.

Not an essential but a useful item is a gas mask tin, cheap (around £30) repros are available from Epic and Richard Underwood. A good place to store pyros and a spare 500ml bottle of water! You don't need Y straps, but again they are an optional extra, mine are form Richard Underwood, he has a range of varying price and quality.

What are you doing for boots, low boots and gaiters or jackboots?

The most generic collar insignia are the ones with generic litzen (ie they don't have the waffenfarbe colour woven into them), on an M43 jacket you probably want the late war woven BeVo ones.

Have fun shopping!

Cheers
Martin

Another question I have if anyone is willing to help.

Is it possible to reinforce the crotch of German Wool Trousers? Sadly I suffer from Rugby Legs and they love to rip the crotch...

I'd echo Martin on everything he says, while the standard WW2 german 'look' normally involves a heavily laden belt it is best to start with the basics mentioned above and add on the extras (like the spade, bayonet frog, zeltbahn, messtin) over time.
One thing I would say is if you can find an M36 or M40 tunic for the same price you may be better off grabbing one of those. While generally no one will pull you up for wearing a later pattern tunic in an earlier war scenario the M36 and M40 would be more accurate and they were both issued right to the end of the war.
Whatever you go for, good to have you aboard, we always need more Heer :good:

I don't think you'll have a problem with them splitting as the baggy cut prevents it. I've certainly never heard about it happening with German trousers

Like booted says if you've not ordered yet go for an M36 or 40 to give a bit more flexiblity date wise. I'd probably go for the darker green helmet too unless you plan to repaint yourself, it looks closer to the colour used for most of the war (and is cheaper for some reason).

Seller wise I think militaria online is just a reseller for Spearhead so be sure to do a comparison between the two before buying. I know Spearhead is reliable but I can't speak for militaria online.

Good point about the "earlier" timeline games.

The same website does the M36 version too. Same price

http://www.militariaonline.com/ww2-germ ... p-192.html

Anyone got experience with them?

Oh and just in case you've not heard the Spear Head Militaria website is a bunch of cowboys imitating the EBay store.
Go to http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Spearhead-Militaria to be sure

I wouldn't bother with a greatcoat first off - leave that till later. They're great for wearing around a campfire, but I've never known it cold enough to skirmish in one.

I don't think that is the genuine Spearhead website. On their eBay site they say that the only web address they are associated with is their eBay store, I'd investigate further if I was to order from there.

I don't know. I enquired about doing a bulk buy from his ebay shop a while ago, and the spreadsheet pricelist I got from him included this address. I've never bought from it tho' :?

In a further update to my kit guide, I would heartily recommend Gavin Militaria for uniforms. I've tried a lot of different suppliers over the years, but I've found them to be the best. They're based in Hong Kong I believe, and they also supply a number UK outlets, who obviously add their cut to the price. A tunic from Gavin costs US$80. Postage is reasonable, although you might have to pay a little import tax, it's still worth it. Just make sure you measure yourself properly, and note that tunics had short "skirts" and sleeves; the sleeve is probably 2 or 3 inches shorter than you would wear a modern jacket.

Well I'm not looking to buy the uniform until july-ish. Planning to lose a bit of weight I've put on of late. I see no point buying a Uniform to then have to replace it

First thing I will be getting is the PPS k98 rifle. Friend of mines did a review on it and loved it. Also a reason why I got into WW2 again :happyclap:

"Dear coldkiller89,

Hello,

The website you mentioned is our online catalogue.

Best regards
Barry"

So http://www.godarsinc.com/ is actually related to http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Spearhead-Militaria

Based on that, I really like this Tunic:

http://www.godarsinc.com/ww2-german-m36 ... p-704.html

So in terms of reproduction uniforms, is there a league table of quality vs price? I would like something that's good quality, but not something that I will cry for days if I rip
