Righty-ho, section moved back and I've made a start altering dates etc. There is a sub-folder where I have moved threads not relevant to the new game. The section can't be seen by anyone else yet.
I wonder if we could discuss start/endex times? I notice we originally said "Game start - Noon 15th June, game ends Noon 16th June" and that we would be stopping playing at dusk. I think dusk is around 9.15pm for the new date. As this stands it will give over nine hours on Saturday and perhaps three hours on Sunday. That is twelve hours or more, a lot of time to fill. I would have liked to run the game into some darkness at least but this will mean even more game time!
So what am I saying? Dunno! Should we be starting earlier on Saturday and later on Sunday? Can we fill the time available? I'm a bit worried about chaps getting knackered with such a long playing period, and having enough to do in the time - conversely I'd like to make the most of the time we have!

The day is shorter on August 2nd than it was when we originally planned the event for mid-June isn't it? We thought we could fill the time then, so what's changed?
Given the talk on the forum about the 36 hour game being 'too much' I think we can certainly manage 24hrs. Setting up the Brit base will take at least an hour or two. Then we can do all the exercises too as well as patrols and searches.
I think we really need to encourage more people to book on as civilians for this as there are some who won't want to be Brit or suffer the hardship of sleeping rough.

Nothing has changed, just asking for a reassessment. If we think everything is fine, then fine!
We can't call it a 24 hour event though, it will be about 13 hours gaming, depending on when we start on Sunday. Although I suppose the Germans will be 'out' for 24 hours, if not playing.
A good deal of the event is 'civilian' based - I'll revisit what I have said in the spiel. Germans will be in civvies (and may or may not endure sleeping rough) and will be in civvies if they are caught and turn to Home Guard, Brits can be in civvies as Home Guard - they need to be controlled remember. I wouldn't want to lose any emphasis on a good sized uniformed military force though, else it won't be at all disciplined nor look like a WW2 event!

Agreed. I meant civvies as Home Guard...not just roaming local folk.

OK, I've been through all the stuff and updated, rewritten and clarified where needed and there is new stuff too (re German game, civvie kit, arrival times). I'm OK to go live when you both give the go ahead.
One thought - it should be perfectly possible for players to play on the British side on Saturday only. And I guess the German side too, thinking about it (it would give people to play as escapees without the sleeping in a barn thing). No reduction in price though, we don't want people expecting a 'cheap' event and in any case it would mean faffing about and I don't suppose Chris/Seg would be interested in reducing the cost. It would be one less excuse chaps could make! Thoughts?

Looks good to me, go with it. I'll keep a low profile on the forum for it, as I don't get on very well with some of the very people who may book for it. I'll be active with the organisation and for the event itself, I just don't want to put off any people from booking! (I'm the first to admit that I'm a bolshy bastard!).

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
I'm happy with what I've seen. We can tweak if we notice anything else.
The Saturday only option is fine, and TBH if people are a bit wussie about it, the could always slink off to their cars at nightfall.
And Pete, your honesty is often spot on, but not always welcomed by some. ![]()

OK, so barely any interest so far and only two bookings.
Quite a few can't make it.
What's the plan then? How can we market this more strongly?

I have no idea. There's plenty of information on the forum, anyone can see exactly what it's all about. It's very frustrating that the SISK's are having no problems with bookings. I suppose it's the lack of shooting that puts people off Hut 9, which is very sad.

Don't worry yet - look at the bookings for all the upcoming games. The only ones with decent numbers are 'club' games so a captive audience really.
I don't think it is a lack of interest but we are pushing a 'speciality' game remember. A lot of the veterans have gone and the newbies aren't bored with 'easy' games yet so don't feel the need to move to something different.
See how it goes. Although if this one doesn't happen I won't be involved in running any more games...

Ditto. I'm quite relaxed about that. Happy to just go to the occasional Wladek game or whatever...

Quite. I'm not in the least bit stressed or concerned. We have always said put up the game and if they don't want to come, then fair enough!
I may even ditch the whole WW2 thing anyway - I gave up reenacting because I had done everything I wanted to do and really, although there is more I would like to do with WW2 airsoft, I recognise most people don't think the way I do! And perhaps we have pushed concepts as far as it is practically possible. We have certainly been innovators and done amazing things - it can only get worse!
Oh, and the last game I played was in June last year and I can't say I've been gagging to get the kit out since then. It isn't that I don't want to just that real life takes priority - a few years ago my priorities were the other way around!

I feel pretty much the same as both of you. No point getting stressed about it if people don't want to try something different. Still, it's early days on the bookings yet. If it's the same in June as it is now, then I'll know it's not going to happen.

Well, it looks to me like we're not going to get the bookings for this.
The SISK that's running on the 30th August has about three times as many people booked on.
I guess that's what people want nowadays.

It's not looking good but, let's not start worrying until the start of June. Craig has put up a fantastic post in the "attending WW2 events" thread, which sums it all up as things are at the moment.

I think it is wrong to call that August game a SISK (a lot of work in the prep for that - the chap does know how to run a game well, and has sides working separate missions so very free flowing like CiA games) but anyway, that game is largely site mates and a lot of them.
Nothing for Josh's game end July. Craig's June game is poor bookings for just a month away. The Pathfinder game (actually the closest anyone has ever been to a CiA game and I think would have been very good) is embarrassingly empty.
But they went bonkers for Jimbo's pathetic and unquestionable SISK.
I'm afraid many don't want to travel, many don't want be away for more than a day, many don't want to be tested or challenged. They think props make an excellent game, and misguidedly think putting shitty games on encourages 'new blood' - it doesn't, they rarely come back. Putting on a 'wow' game makes them come back and, for all its failings, this was why CiA was successful. Chaps couldn't wait to see what we came up with next.
In truth though, you can't blame the players. We had the energy, time and motivation to put on shit-hot games and it was infectious. Now the scene is meh, so the players think meh!

OK, maybe not a SISK as we recognise it, but basically a site-managed themed event, rather than a WW2 event.
I concur with your other comments.

Time to publicise 'Saturday only' option?

Yep. I reckon.

Pete, if we can't get enough Germans, would it be worth asking Stu if he'd like to come along to make up the escapees?
