If anyones looking for a book with background on this campaign I recommend, An Army at Dawn: The War in North Africa 1942-1943 by Rick Atkinson.

I know it's a US show, but, any room for badly supported French forces?

Afraid not Kroot.

I looked into it, and would have seriously liked to have some, but the kit for the French that were present is so different (and expensive to get) that there would have been so few French that it would have been unrealistic.

Keep your hopes up or the future chap. :D

Yeah, ditto! But Chris (dog green 1) is going to see what deals he can get with suppliers, and we do have eight months to get it. If you've already got German kit, then just buying a tunic and tropical cap would see you almost there - you could use existing HBT trousers, for example, or even Brit KDs. The webbing would be leather and / or tropical, mag pouches, water bottle and breadbag can all be European theatre. A quick dash of paint on the gas mask tin, and hey presto!

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier

Hi, already posted part of this in another thread but does that mean a tropical shirt with HBT trousers would be OK? Are we likely to do more desert stuff so it is better to buy green DAK trousers if purchasing?

There is always the potential to do more once people have the kit. Remember the German tropical uniform was used in more than just North Africa. It was used throughout the Mediterranean and Southern Russia and the equipment was widely issued later in the war to save leather. You could wear tropical kit for Wladek's Monte Cassino game the month before. I intend to wear some as part of my FJ kit.

Much like the CiA Russian game, people with kit opens up a whole load of games for the future, so kit wouldnt only be used once.

Yeah! Neccessary for allowing folk the maximum amount of time to budget getting the kit together, especially in today's economic climate! :)

Yeah well, wedding preps are swallowing any money I have! Not that I have any in the first place!!!

Still, I'll end up with a lovely wife, which will be much nicer to hold on to than a Garand, or wool trousers...

Which at the end of the day is more important, however if you borrow kit, then you can have the lovely wife and play the game! Double points lol
