Hey guys this is my first post.. i was wondering about airsoft mock ups of other WW2 weapons. im an airsofter and also looking to get equipment for a film/animation project set in the late 1940s. Would this be okay with the way the law works?
I'd love to help but I'm not sure what your asking , WW2 airsoft guns are covered by the same laws as other modern airsoft weapons .

Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......
a problem shared is a problem halved ,but an advantage shared is no advantage at all
if a job's not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well
Mockups of other WW2 weapons like Swiss bolt Rifles. id hate to have real rifles destroyed for the sake of a film. Even IF versions (with green stock) of the rifles made would be fine as i can later just edit them in software in the film. Not sure where i could find someone who could do that or if its something that can be done.
Non working film prop weapons are normally cast in rubber, the only guy I know of to do this in quantity is Warren of Shoot and Scoot, wood props would look better, but take longer, and be more expensive to make,
Andy
For a film prop you could cover an IF with wood effect self adhesive vinyl very easily , not too sure how the law works if its removable though , probably a bit of a grey area .

This really should be moved to general airsoft discussion, if you are a bone fide film/drama company there’s no reason or laws preventing you from having rif weapons under the heading of “props” even made up mock weapons are acceptable, (not normally made with a great deal of detail) if you are not a “company” or association of some kind that’s somehow registered you are treading on dodgey ground as the law says, ( not very clearly, I might add) that you are not supposed to make realistic weapons, wether they fire or not.
I’m guessing you only have to prove that you are a drama company or that you are a film maker, by association of a reseachable history to be taken as legit, but there may be more to it than that. Strangely enough you can have swords, lances, pikes, clubbing implements, axes, even musket props with no trouble at all! .......but something that looks like a modern- ish gun, well, your obviously a criminal on the lookout to commit a crime!
I already had my eyes on a air soft pistol. However I already had BBS that were .12 gram BBS.
