I hope so m8 - i've taken the time to research my local regiment, and procured an 'okay' looking loadout - for the BEF era.

I've also bought suitable additions for a mid/late impression based on the Gordon Highlander, 51st.

If anyone wants to know more - I am in touch with the museum, maybe at the pre-game have a couple of pics taken to give back to them?

Likewise i'm happy to try and get as near identical kit to your guys.

Currently im going for the unbadged 37 pattern BD..

If my glengarys a different reg i can look into getting another.

So far i have.

BD blouse
gordon kilt
khaki hose
puttees
MKII helmet
MKVI ressi bag
webbing

Probabaly use the thompson or the no4 if i get a place on the game, both are slightly *wrong* but still better than say a MP44 ;)

Need to get:

Same glengary, red strips for the socks

Gadge, your London 'Gordons' is a fine set of headwear.

I have to get puttees and flashes, I've got a helmet on its way.

Like any impression, especially since doing some research - British uniforms, insignia and equipment is a minefield lol

If we get these impressions together for 'Op Ariel' would you guys mind if we have a pic taken to send to the GH museum?

No problem with me either
Got a question on the Glengarry, mine appears to be the same as Gadge's but with the red toorie, which by my understanding was a pipers one - though I may be wrong on that, and on some of the Gordons photos I found there were definately some being worn ,however I haven't a clue which "Gordons" they were.
Also did they still were tartan backing ,as per WW1 ,I know they did on the Tam o' Shanter but I can't find anything about it on the glengarry.

Sandy,

I've done some digging and have now figured out the Glengarry I bought isn't right for the GH lol - my GG has a black bow as the badge backing and it should be a black cross. I'm not sure if I leave mine as is or find out more about changing it.

The Red toori is correct for GH and most Scottish Regiments, there are only a few exceptions - Blue for the London Scottish, Black for the Cameron's and Dark Green for the Highland Light Infantry.

If you have a copy of Brian L. Davis' British Army Uniforms book, page 138 table 31 has the information about Glengarry's taken from Dress Regulations for the Army, 1934

I will contact the museum about the piper/drummer's versions and the tartan backing and see what they come back with.
