I see now it was all a sneaky axis plot to deprive the plucky tommies of their char ration and hence demoralise them. Well it failed, morale was kept high by the continued presence on Sunday morning of belgian alcohol in my bloodstream which had been smuggled out of the low countires by the resistance.

It's true, last thing I remember was thinking "I don't feel too drunk - I think I'll have another one of Scaley's lovely Belgian beers. 
Then I woke up, (boots on, battledress neatly folded) about when the sun came up (no watch) so I de-booted, wriggled into my sleeping bag and slept until someone (Chommers I think) woke me up and said I had about 30 mins until game on - missed breakfast i'm afraid - probably just as well, given that first climb. (there's no emoticon for "green faced, heart burtsting out of chest")
