Someone bring petrol if it's raining please.....

No no - not required. Gadge and Matt I believe it was who did the fire at Churchill's - and you know how wet it was. I don't believe they used any accelerant. (I stand to be corrected.)

Anyway, we can just syphon some out of Chommers' car if we need to! :D

Gadge told me. He used petrol. :slap:

We managed to get a fire going without it, but the wood was so sodden that any logs we put on took about 30 minutes to dry before it would start to burn.

Someone bring petrol if it's raining please.....

i bring a big can of old petrol/diesel mix

i have a 25 litre drum full of mixed fuel at work, (f***ing builders put wrong fuel in machines all the time ) so i save it all up and use it to burn my rubbish in the garden.

ill bring a drum allong if the weathers bad, its only good for burning, and cant be used in any engine anways

also im bringing allong a generator and lights so the sat night social will have light

i can also bring a gas space heater if the weathers bad, GREAT for drying out wet gear .

ill decide the day before depending on weather

Nice one Mr Porta (don't let Guy get that confused with his fire breathing paraffin).

I can start a fire no problem, but when the wood is wet in the middle it's a might difficult. I cut a load of wood and put it under a tarp the night before CR only to find some d*ckwad had taken the tarp off for some reason!

Anyhow, I'd have defied anyone to get a decent fire going with accelerants at CR. We got one going, but it was teeny.

Assume you mean without ? Least you can start a fire, cooking on an open one at LH events and finding the menfolk haven't got a clue how to is humourous and I mean we've had lads stand there and offer a few smoldering twigs  I do have the advantage of another helga that chops the wood for me to just the right dimesions so it dries and burns at the same time, she can't unfortunately start fires, nor can I use an axe, merely weild on menacingly  but together we manage fine

Oh and if you think re-enactors are any better at keeping wood under cover/tarp  your dafter than me  especially after some of the soggy weekends that should have been sunny events this year.

Men  runs and ducks for cover
