[Sticky] Surviving the weekend...

Whilst this game is not on as harsh a site at Churchill's Revenge or Bryansk, it is still pretty tough going on foot with some steep climbs. It may be very hot and sunny, in which case you will need plenty of water, so make sure you have something to carry it in. We'll provide drinking water stations, but make sure you have something in the field with you. Same goes for food, don't rely on Helga's generosity to get you through the weekend. Bring your own munchies. Ask Pete59 about the effects of heat stroke! Also, I know I ALWAYS say this and no-one EVER listens.....don't drink too much. As usual, Guy and Jay will be checking up on you all to make sure you are reasonably sober. Better to be sober and play than too hungover to get out of your tent......eh Kav? On the other hand, it might rain for the whole weekend in which case I copy and paste the following from Guy's recommendations for Bryansk: To all players , please take heed . It may rain & it may rain for 24 hours, so..... 1: If you have spare kit, uniforms, boots etc take them and leave them in your car. Better a dry pair of farby boots to change into on Sunday, or some black/OD trousers than nothing at all . I'd rather you run around in jeans on Sunday than leave Saturday coz your uniform is wet. Same goes for jumpers, gloves etc that will keep you warm if need be . 2: Tents, ponchos, zelts - fabsil them now, and next week and the week following . If you have stuff like Goretex bivi bags or plastic DPM bashas then bring them . They will keep your stuff dry inside a tent, can be strung up in the trees to provide shelter. I'd rather you have comfort than 100% authenticity . 3: Stuff left inside your tents: weapons, clothes, sleeping bags. Wrap them in two or three bin liners. They will stay dry all day. Even better consider getting hold of dry bags - they are 100% waterproof. Do not rely on any tent to keep your stuff dry - it won't. Plan to keep the stuff inside dry as well. 4: Helmets keep your head much dryer than soft headwear. 5: Socks - take lots of spare pairs, changing socks every six hours even with wet boots will help you keep comfortable. It's a small boost in a wet world; but works wonders on your morale . I (and Guy) will be in a pup tent, using a basha sheet as a ground sheet, with clean dry gear encased in dry bags, sleeping in a nice warm sleeping bag on top a thermarest an inside a bivi bag. Last year at CR I slept two nights up there (went up on Friday for setting up) Pissed down with rain the full weekend and my stuff stayed dry and I was comfortable. Some links :- Dry Bags Basha sheets - use them to line pup tent floors Pup Tents Gortex Bivi Bag Be posh , get a thermarest Best & warmest sleeping bag I've found having used a few....it's not light at 2kg but I've slept out in -10 happily in one without a tent

Hi, sorry if I missed the answer to this but is the camping area wooded with big strong trees or flat and open? Reason I am asking is to decide whether to bring the bivi kit or a proper tent?

The designated camping area is open land but bounded by a tree line so it's likely you will find something suitable. You notice I'm hedging my bets a little - don't want you to turn up your nose at the trees provided and I have not the experience (or inclination) to go down the bivi/basha route of shelter! However, I'm sure Taffyjohn has the experience I lack and will say yay or nay when he is next online...

My boys bivvi all the time some have done it in the snow, there are plenty of places to sleep including the mens toilet it's an 8x4 shed

Hi so is there a poncho ish distance apart sturdy trees that would take weight for me to rope to near to the camping area or do I pack the tent?

The car park is adjacent to camp area, all in the SE sector. No strenuous or long distances, no need for transportation (unlike A2C-1 which I guess is in your mind).
