i was loading my van to leave husky and was too busy saying goodbye to del, i forgot me cap, he kindley brought it over just as i was loading the last stuff into the cab. i put my broomhandle mauser on the cab roof , and took my cap saying thanks del.
(guess where this is going)
drove home doing average speed on motorway of 75 mph, overtaking many artic lorrys.
upon arrival at home im unloading the van, and cant find my broomhandle anywhere, i think shite where did i last see it
IT WAS ON THE ROOF!!!!!
in a desperate moment i check the cab roof, and its STILL F**KING THERE!!!!!
it never fell off in 73 miles of journey at an average 75mph speed
ive been expecting a visit at work off the old bill today, "following up" a sighting of a van with a gun on the roof.
all i can think is that: the weight of the mauser, combined with the carefull turns i made so my kit didnt fall in my lap from the passenger seat, and the huge dent in the roof where i stood on it at an advance to contact game, all these factors kept the bloody thing from falling off
id have been gutted to loose it , as the mauser performed like a dream at husky.
"Take that you rotton helping of strawberry flan!"

You lucky, lucky, lucky bastard!
I can guarantee that no-one else would be able to get away with that!
When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........
Lucky indeed! I used to do this a lot in my young days - anything from sheets of paper to a bunch of flowers for my then girlfriend (now missus of 21 years).
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
the power of Porta !!!
shesh, I certainly wouldn't have had that luck, albeit I've once done it with my purse on the roof, thankfully I got a few hundred yards twigged and thankfully it was there still. hadn't even got over 20mph in that instance
What a jammy dodger
Seems like you have been a jammy git all your life Porta - I don't know how you get away with it!
Hmmm, Old 'Un lost his wallet on his roof leaving D-Day +2 luckily it fell off immediately and was found (but lost us an hour when he realised and turned back to recover it )
It's because Porta's head is magnetic, meaning the Mauser was irresistibly attracted to the roof above his head.

Interesting deduction there
I once left my glasses behind Ed's car when loading it up at Crickhowel after a Stirling game... unfortunately they were run over by either his or one of the other cars... d'oh!
Porta..you jammy bugger
Well armed response once did the same with an MP5 if I remember correct not sure if it was found in the road somewhere
