What sort of time will you guys be getting to the site? I'm going to try and book a half-day off so should be there about 3pm all being well.........

Rather kindly, Taffy has said that he'll make up some CiA arrow boards and put them up for us. He knows the area and all the main routes in, so that's something off the list.

Ah, good about the signs - I'll have the banners with me anyway to put up at the entrance, hell I'll have the road pointers as well, just in case it doesn't happen with Taffy for some reason.

Not sure about the time - I was taking Keith but I'm trying to get him to go with Dell instead as that will give me more time flexibilty and I'll be able to bring all the drop cylinders!
I can probably hit 3pm if you want....

Fancy CiA paying for the Corned Beef (sorry Guy) for Helga's cooking as Taffy is providing the bacon ans sausages? It will be a nominal dent in the funds and a nice gesture (giving something back).

I won't be touching it either, but happy to go ahead and pay for it. I'll give her a cheque for it.

Make sure she keeps the receipts!!!!!

Cool beans.
Luckily my omnivorous digestive system is designed to consume fellow creatures (but draws the line at bunnies). Regardless, corned beef is hardly worth eating (fat and cerial with a bit of meat) but meh, it's authentic!

DOH! Bloody interweb - once you start looking...

What we call corned beef isn't American's corned beef (which is preserved prime cuts)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corned_beef

So we will be having Bully Beef Hash (perfect for the Brit contingent though  )

It's all offal and filler. I hate the stuff.

I'll bring my usual salad and Uncle Ben's Two-minute boil-in-the-bag rice. Erm....rice is sort of authentic.

Heh, that's the point, I had the same illusion myself. No filler and it's not offal, salt/saltpeter preserving the less tender cuts of meat (that you would stew normally) gives tender long life meat.

Salad! :ghey:

I still hate the stuff. We clearly need a corned beef smiley now though......

Corned Beef can't be muscular cuts of meat, I'm sure it's all the off cuts, trimmings and 'mechanically recovered' bits.

Wiki says: "Confusingly, there is also a product called 'corned beef' sold in the UK and the US, sometimes known as bully beef. It is sold as tins (cans) of a distinctive shape containing finely ground meat. A typical ingredients list is: Beef, Salt, Sugar, Sodium Nitrite."

"Beef" is a suspiciously catch-all word to use. It could included snout, ears and tongue etc, much like sausages do.

I'd be pleasantly surprised if it didn't.

BTW, Gadge is still notable by his absence from the game. Heard anything, other than that he's playing rubberised-piggy-goth-in-the-middle?

I'm not that keen on corned beef myself (too much of it consumed as a kid as it was a very common foodstuff then) but hey, it's only one meal and it's joining in so I'll can put up with it.

Gadge has been bobbing on and off this forum but hasn't been posting anywhere else (he was roasted on ASCUK, got a battering on his thread in this forum) and hasn't been whoring himself on the reenacting forums either.

Still, as far as I know both he and DieselM are coming to Husky - perhaps you might give him a nudge?

Just spoke to Yith.

Cashflow issues apparently. He's been living of beans on toast for a while and was close to being evicted.
