Not about history? But your post maintains that they would have sent troops. Dont you base that notion on history? Yes you do, you say they were our allies. They were eventually, thats history. But your history is flawed because there were no airborne to send in 1940. What would they have sent?
So what would you wear? No US airborne divisions in 1940[the 501st had just completed their jump training by the end of august 1940]? Service tunic and Brodies with springfields? No M42 jump suits or M41 field jackets. M1 pots and M1 garands were not issued to all troops yet. No M1 or M1A1 Thompsons only 1928 style.
Or are you willing to twist history so far as to include the 1944 airborne division and it's jeeps? If that is the case I think the Germans should have Tigers, Mg42 and Stg44, with Me262 and Arado 234 flying support. They have not invaded the Soviet Union yet so are not short of men and material. That gives them 4.5 million men to play with.
Hows that for a 'what if' on your terms?
I dont have issue with you joining in, read back, I say to be inclusive. My problem is with what you are saying about the state of our allies in 1940. It's just not true.

"Truth is a shining goddess, always veiled, always distant, never wholly approachable, but worthy of all the devotion of which the human spirit is capable. "
Given this is a 'what if' scenario and therefore entirely fictitious I'd look on it as an opportunity to make it clear to the visiting public that, had an invasion taken place, in reality we would have been up shit creek as the Americans wouldn't have been in any position to help us out, even if they had been so inclined (as Poacher illustrates).
So, a fantastic opportunity to educate the masses on the actual involvement of the USA in WW2 (and why) contrasted with what might be in the minds of Hollywood-film-brainwashed Joe Public!
OK US military fact finding mission to Germany see German airbourne units at a military firepower demo. They see the possible future benefit of them go home and form US airbourne units in 1940. (That should solve the first point) US want to impose their might on the British and come over to show us Brits what fine soldiers they are. They are caught up in the B of B as they can`t get back home. Germans win B of B invade (Ficticiously of course) we all get together on Ford ranges for an inclusive good old WW2 skirmish (without Nazi stitch counters) shoot lots of US airbourne in the process and all thank the organiser for a great weekend.
Please don`t scare people away with things that don`t really matter
It must be the hot weather
Yeah 1940 is a very awkward date for most re-enactors to do. A heck of a lot changed in the 4 years between then and 1944. The US army's uniform massively changed for a start.
All the usual Look Alike rules are in place for this game, new guys wearing Flectarn or green jumpsuits are welcome. It's not about getting the kit right, it's about enjoying the battle, venue and hospitality
cool! would like to come along, i may even be able to get brit kit sorted if it helps?
and if you want to bring the 262's and tigers, we will happily have our jeeps in game and even our 1957 V8 "generic" army truck that can be marked up as german if they need a vehicle?
i will happily bend "history" for an airsoft game, we all do it reuglarly in the name of having a good time, but as an experienced (17 years) re-enactor i know better than bend history for a re-enactment, thats the nice difference about WW2 airsoft and the nice like minded people who want to have a fun time
as for , how was it put? Nazi Stitch counters, they are in all walks of life and everyone understands them , let us know if this is going to upset too many of your players, we are easy minded about it
all the best
It could easily have happened in '41. Britain almost starving because of the U-boat threat. Hitler decides against the foolhardy act of fighting on two fronts at once, and decides to sort out the western front once and for all - 4 million men destined for the Soviet Union are diverted to France instead.
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
I like our new re written history!:-) this could lead to some very good battles with a twist!!;-)

Jimbo, if you want I can bring down a couple of vintage bikes ( 1949 sunbeam and 1956 bsa) I know they are a bit late but I can put panniers and blackout lights on them ,the bsa is a dead ringer for a 250 dispatch bike and the Missus has an ATS dispatch riders uniform now. Both would pass for commandeered civvy home guard bikes - they looked good enough for us to get invited to join the D Day convoy at Maiden Newton at War, and I can bring my 4 metre bell tent , might all add to the static display if you want them.
Stof that sounds excellent, a couple of the lads girlfriends are coming as ATS as well so she wont be on her own.

Remember there were NO American units in the UK in 1940, some US citizens in the Eagle squadrons though. None until January 1942. The 82nd didn't exist again until March '42.
You can forget this to be inclusive but thats the history.wrong check your facts matey
Welcome to the forum retromod.
Unlike some other sites, CiA doesn't really go in for the confrontational approach when it comes to differing opinions on stuff like this. If you have some information you'd like to share on this topic then please do so. Posts that basically say "You're wrong, I'm right" with nothing to support the claim are literally a waste of everyone's time.

I did, care to educate me, a few facts of your own would be nice? I suggest pms as a method.

Sorry... wrong again!
From the 82nd airborne division website here:
http://www.bragg.army.mil/82dv/History.htm
The 82nd was demobilized after World War I. For more than 20 years the "All-American Division" would live only in the memories of men who served in its ranks during the Great War.
With the outbreak of World War II, the 82nd was reactivated on March 25, 1942 at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana under the command of Major General Omar N. Bradley.
Play nicely children! This is becoming as bad as. Lot of reEnatment forums, yes everyone on here is an "expert" on all things ww2 (even though we all have tha same reference data;-) ) makes me chuckle
I am stepping out of doing sealion, sorry but got a film in Spain shooting for 14 weeks. Have fun shooting the Bosch!;-)
