HS ran an interesting idea, what about a campaign starting with DDay . It would give some structure to forward events .

DDay
Battle for Caen
Falaise Pocket
Greenwood
Arhnem
Low countries
BotB
Ruhr
Aachen
Remagen Bridge
Battle for Berlin

.......just of the top of my head !

Seems there is a definate desire for historical games there and folk seem keen to get kit.

I dont know if its better to do a campaign in more detail rather than trying to cover a massive operation on one day.

e.g
Maybe an italy campign in three parts.

A bridgehead sicily game
An Anzio game
A gustave line game.

Yeah, I'd like to see tighter games run along a smaller theme. Of course, we could pick specific battles from the list Guy's come up with a work from there incorporating our usual fact/fiction film-sim methods.

A few have said they would consider getting more kit , I'd be wary of reading too much into that . I'm also conscious that we haven't the time to refight the whole of WWII, even at 4 games a years, three Italian specific ones might be a little dull on the trot.
Sticking ot historial also ties our hands in many otherways, but as a loose format it has some merit .

Yeah, I'd like there to be a certain amount of historical license of course. But running a series of one day games throughout a year that built up to a crescendo might be quite nice for the players to get their teeth into instead of the more piece-meal way we are currently running things.

We don't need to announce all the games at once, but we could move onto a Bocage game after D-Day, then maybe Eastern Front, then Holland/Belgium, then another bunker/German installation game and ending in Berlin.

Well once i've publically left CiA i'll be running my own games on a more re-enactment level so you're more than welcome to 'associate' with them if you like.

I get a feeling there is a player base for it.

Yep I like the idea of it , having it as a loose campaign might get more buy in .

Will be doing more than "associate" mate, I'm expecting to play at them :D and you know the offer of help is always there . I personally like the idea of games at more of a reenactment level if you can get the numbers for them , just aware it won't suit everyone or the budgets of all . TBH if a decent Russian AEG came out I'd happily get a Russki load out tommorrow .

I'm hoping WW2 takes off by third parties next year (Gunman decides to continue, Lightfighter come up with the goods, F&O run a game etc) then that will take the pressure off us for big games. Arnhem had to be big - the economics dictated that apart from anything else.

So, I am 100% for small select games with restricted numbers. Much less hassle, much more game satisfaction, much less financial risk. And it also allows the prospect of more restrictive kit requirements. If player numbers are restricted it pretty well puts any urban scenario out of the picture - but any woodland site is very do-able.

A series is a pretty good starting point and will certainly add to our 'brand' loyalty with players taking part in a campaign.

I'm looking at a 15 - 20 a side Itlay game.

Probablt 'op huskey' sicilay landings of '43 at phoenix woodland.

Brit airborne (south Staffords vs Heer (i'll just ask the SS lads to leave the oakleaf at home the feldgrau is fine, im not too fusses about insignia)

Very small 'combat mission' type gaming day to knock out a coastal gun in the morning and secure a bridge approach road in the evening.

Got it sort of all planned out already.

Would love you to help mate.

I'll put up plans here when i have abit more to go on.

I *know* we have at least 15 uk airborne players and i i'm pretty sure there are 15 GD lads by now.

Be a summer 2008 game.

Or alternatively, take up AndyT's suggestion. Don't think it's a piss-take - it appears to have been thought out! :?
