I have a JT Flex 7 paintball mask, which I've given a semi Oakleaf paintjob. I've had this mask for about 10 years now and it has NEVER fogged up on me. I used to play pro paintball in it and have always used it for CQB/FIBUA airsofting. Can't fault it in any way and I would thoroughly recommend one to anybody looking for good all round protection and vision. As a bonus, with the peak removed, I can still wear my helmet with it.

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!

im just going with glasses,

if i get hit in the mush, "cest la gurre"

im an ugly f**K any how, and i may jinx myself now, but ive only been hit in the face hard once, in the last 3 years, and i took 3 bursts from 3 guys in the face at 10 feet (one burst in my open mouth as i was screaming charge at the time)

3 aeg users on a skirmish site, i only had two glocks, and because they couldnt hit me as i moved around to fast, they closed the range, then peppered my face.

the only real pain was my teeth, i though id lost some, but they just felt like they had been broke.

Ive always kept my head down, when taking incoming, though in the dark it may be hard to do.

good idea,

but the one i wear cost 40 quid, and the wife was with me when i bought it, she couldnt belive it when i jumped up and down on it, and kicked it round the house, and i activly encouraged the kids to do the same.

my little girl would jump of the couch and land on it, to make sure she "SQUASHED IT FLAT"

so i dont think ill be allowed to buy another, just to cut holes in it.

And you would look like a nutter, thats the only thing im worried about with airsoft is getting shot in the face,i have been to 2 games in my life normal airsoft at Pheonix woodland and they lent me a full face mask each time but it was hard to breath.

If its passed 9 there is a 95% chance im pissed.

no , im an idiot, and i will NOT wear a face mask

i recomend people DO wear them, but i wont

i belive that in the "spirit" of the game an approprate reaction should follow being shot, so if i get hit in the head, there will be an appropriate scream to go with it.

BTW I AM NOT ASKING TO BE SHOT IN THE FACE, if it happens , ok sod law, just dont AIM for the face.

though at the arhnem game, a hell of a lot of shots wistled round my face and head, as so many people were trying to hit my "topper"

I remember at Pheonix i ran forward hid behind some snadbags and got pepperd in the arse by about 6 of my own lot.

I may go with a face mask but forfit the helmet, the M43 ski cap is quite good at absorbing bbs, especialy if everyone sticks to the 330fps or bellow limit,

The helmet recommendation is for the quite low ceilings in places not for close up hits...

While, as with any site in the UK, full face protection is recommended and use of glasses/goggles is at player's risk I didn't feel particularly vulnerable, and this was on an open day with chaps with box mags determined to blat everything in sight. I did, on occasion, use a gumshield but this was more because I didn't know what to expect rather than an actual risk. Gumshields make me gag after a short while but it might be a wise and cheap investment for those determined not to wear a full face mask, keep it in your pocket and pop it in when you feel at risk.

Every gun will be chrono'd and with our low ammo limits and slower pace of game I don't expect there to be problems. Of course, there is always the risk of a panic squeeze on the trigger when someone steps out of the shadows at close range....

Better safe than sorry I guess is the most appropriate maxim here. That JT Flex mask looks like a good piece of all round protection - not cheap though eh, and of course it makes you look like you're about mount up on your BMX -

Think I'll go for one of the cheaper green mesh masks that are generally on sale at some of the sites - I don't envisage myself making all that much use of it outside of this game - :D

face hits don't bother me (much)... they heal up in a week or so...

Its teeth hits that concern me! They don't heal and cost humungous amounts of money.

For me its a double gumshield all the way (

And you are right, I wasn't hit in the face either....

I'd prefer glasses but I'll also bring the mask & see what the majority of players go for on the day.

There was just one guy in a full face mask at the open day... However the site does recommend them, but then doesn't every site?

i find that a quick peek round a corner works, if loads of fire comes back, DONT look round again.

also nothing can save your face if bad luck strikes
me and phil were in the back of a vechle, aproaching a hot drop,
he had a FULL paintball mask on.

vechle took a hard turn i fall into phil arm outstreached , my mp5k went flat on his chest, i pulled the trigger trying to get up, and i gave him a burst in the mouth.

and he ALWAYS wore a mask, but sods law made sure he got hit in the face

since he ditched his mask for the ww2 games,, hes only had 1 face hit by 1 round

I personally cannot stand the full size paintball masks. find them so constrictive. hence why i have the neoprene mask. which i barely use :P but after hearing about where the fire is likely to come from Im not really wanting to take the risk. seems infront of you and behind arent the only places you'll get shot from heh. apparently theres holes in walls and all sorts.
