Some of you maybe wondering what to expect at this event . For those who missed the first ever Eastern Front event we held here in 2008, we have 1200 acres of wooded valley, with miles of drivable tracks . The battle will be another weekend event , with the opportunity of to run through the night for those who wish it. There will be some elements of Jedburgh to it, some sneaky beaky stuff by Soviet Scouts and SS Anti Partisan Units, however both sides will have the comforts of a base from which to operate.
As with Jed', we ask that you take everything you need into the site with you , there will be some vehicles for the heavier stuff, but you'll only need one gun, some food and shelter. You can get small camp fires going to keep you warm and to cook upon, and again as in Jed we ask that you leave modern kit such as Eurohike tents behind. A modern sleeping bag inside a zelt tent, US Army tent, basha, etc is perfectly fine . We would like the areas to look period , even if not accurate, if that makes sense.
The event is focused around the control of vital ground and supply routes. The Russian must recce, harass movement, and capture prisoners for intel . The Germans are tasked with denying Russian movement, dominating ground and, taking prisoners. They have vehicles to assist rapid movement and deployment.
This is not a blatfest and regen will be through the 20 minutes time out rather than trekking 2km back to a flag somewhere up a big hill. The opportunity exists to really get back into the mindset of the troops on both sides, as we relive some of the bitterest fighting of WW2. We have lots of pyro for this one and some parachute flares for effect.
For those struggling with Russian kit , we may allow a Partisan look as well .
The Ceri site is blessed with usually having good weather, and being in a valley this should ensure a warm day and night .
Brilliant - really looking forward to this.
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
For an idea of the site ...
I enjoyed Jedburgh which was my first CIA event, looking forward to this one even more
This sounds the most challenging and exciting game I've had the chance at playing! I can't wait, although getting a sweat on about the numbers! Where is every one? Hope we have end of month rush when people get paid!
yes , gritty and hard fought will be Schaulen . A perfect starter to more Eastern Front stuff later on this year.
Those playing as Russian scouts will be glad to know that there will be no humping bergens about, meaning just a waterbottle and a weapon will be sufficient for most of our tasks, which is nice.
Also, for everyone, don't forget the "kit loan" thread. If you need to borrow anything, or have anything to loan other players, please post it there. I myself have a full Russian uniform AND an MP40, enough to equip someone from head to foot.
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
No , there will be no humping of bergans for the russians ...just being hunted by German anit artisan units .
yes damm theose artists, hunt them down.
i never new about a specific anti aritisan unit though
i know im trhowing rocks in a greenhouse, being the king of typos myself.
"Take that you rotton helping of strawberry flan!"
Joseph Porta to "strawberrys and cream", in the sven hassel book ,ogpu prison
Anthony - It means a whole new set of awards.
I guess it'll be a mixing pallet enshrined in a oakleaf wreath. Probably crossed brushes included
But since it's 'arty' it wont be bronze, silver or gold - more like blue, red, yellow
plumbers joiners & builders ...hunt em down and quote them is all I can say
I like the sound of having to hold the crossroads over night, I assume that means that the team holding it at the end of day one would have to put senries there over night and it could be captured by the other team??

It's an option . Say the Russians capture it early evening , they have the choice to camp on it all night or leave it undefended. Germans the same. So could be a case of battle till dark and both sides retreat , or one side stays in place , or both sides race to get up early to be there in the morning .
It will be easiest taken during dusk or dawn , or by concerted effort with vehicles and pyro during the day . Plenty of opportunity for outflanking as well . And we use mortars don't forget.
The options for both commanders will be wide open , and a lot will depend on the morale of the troops. It should also be 1/2 moon so some light . Mind you people might prefer to slope of to bed and fight in the morning .
some more pics of the site next week as Pete and I have a final recce !
Did I read it right and there'll b parachute flares!!! awesome!! I'm feeling the atmos' already. Oh boys oh boys! Canna wait!
Excuse me if I've missed it (I had a good trawl through most of the topics on here), but is this a midday to midday event? If so, what is the recommended arrival time?
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Probably maybe , or possibly a 10 till 10 . Will be confirmed after this weekends final site visit
We shall allow people on site on the Friday if that helps with costs travel etc.
Is there a confirmed Friday arrival time yet? Would rather head up on Friday afternoon than leave bloody early on the Saturday - will be knackered before the game starts!
However, we will try to sort something out for friday for those who have longer journeys. Watch the thread I have linked to for this.

Yes , however it maybe easier to meet up in a pub in Clun and travel up together rather than you turn up in 1200 acres wondering where to go .
