Just spotted Keith has got some Russian kit in, not to cheap but may be worth a look.

A quick Google and it would seem that they are curved. Introduced in '43 due to the troubles with loading the drum mag. It is a pain. I guess they will be the same as those used with the Ppsh43.

The stick mag for the Shpagina was introduced in 1942 and modified in 1943 because of problems with the thickness of the mag walls. Also they're different to the mags used in the Sudaeva.
While both hold 35 rounds the stick mag on the Pistol Pulemet Shpagin is single stack and wartime production ones are ribbed (the fount of all knowlege for all things Shpagina http://www.ppsh41.com/ ). The magazine for the Pistol Puelemet Sudaev is a double stack. They are not interchangeable.
I prefer firing the PPS, but it's difficult to beat the 71 round drum.
Can we get a Soviet kit guide up on the forums, that could help people gather kit I would be well up for a soviet loadout as when I looked it was amazingly cheap.
As soon as we confirm a Russian game I'll organise one...
I've had a word with Gadge and we'd like to try and get some shots done for a couple of guides soon.
Let me know if you want them to be part of the web site guides as I can't use snaps - I'll be involved if you want them 'official' rather than some magazine thing.
What's 'soon' - why not now?
Yes the intention was to use them for the site. We haven't confirmed anything yet, just talked about it. Thats why we haven't spoken to you about it.
Soon is when ever we get them done. I'm still missing a few bits I'd like to get first. Nothing essential but I'd like to get my kit as good as possible before we do it.
Absolutely - can't take pic if there is no kit! However, there must be someone who has all the clobber?

Myself and Gadge have a couple of variant uniforms. Most of it, picked up directly from Russia. Time permitting, we'll/I'll try and get a guide together.
A lot of it's war-dated, but again, some of it's post-war, but it's pretty identical from what i've seen, or as close as can be reasonably expected.
Well I'm 95% there. I just need a Ushanka for the winter look, an extra pouch or 2, bayonet, correct mosin nagant pouches for early war and I'd like some insignia on my greatcoat. Like I said its nothing essiential but I'd like to have them done. Then can do early war summer and winter dress and even have a snow suit.
Could CIA do a 'STALINGRAD' game event this year?
I've been playing with my Pilotka that much, i'm going blind!
My recommendation is for Leningrad. It took place over a much longer period so there is more scope for variety of uniforms and kit. Plus the siege nature of the battle allows for more leaniancy in terms of kit restrictions. In Stalingrad the red army was reasonably well supplied & equipped. In Leningrad any thing that could be used was, so that allows the wider use of civilian clothes and German equipment to make up for the fact we are lacking players with Soviet kit and in particular Soviet weapons.
Yay a Russian front game I want to get Russian kit, but I can only justify it to the little lady if there are some Russian games on. Catch 22 I know
Looking to do a photoshoot for russians soon.
BTW how about a 'last days of berlin' game, massive scope for kit, and also for volksturm.
