As is the fashion, the Kit that works for the infantry. I wont list it as a requirement as that is for PBI to decide.

Wool trousers/shirt or HBTs (or a t-shirt that cannot be seen under the field jacket)
(M41) Field Jacket badged as 82nd or without a badge
Roughout boots and Leggings (or Jump boots (or browny boots) with leggings)
M1 helmet with small helmet netting or no helmet netting
Webbing, preferably OD3 (so we all look similar). Try avoid musette bags if you can as they were issued to officers. A haversack (doughboy pack) is great but a belt and ammo bag is fine.

Think that covers it. The 'Doughboys' will have a little list of their own but that should get us all looking great. :good:

Thats the difference between the "just come off utah beach" and "been fighting since 1:30am" look! ;)

...edit.... and to a lesser extent the "chewing pavement" look from the dead German there

Yeah, but anyone playing a Parachutist is going to have to run around the site from 1:30am to 9:00am to properly simulate their knackerdness.

Did all glider riders carry sidearms? or is that pic of two officers? (could be "weapons" guys i guess)

I was working on the assumption of officers (or weapons guys) as I do not think they were issued side-arms.

Craig, are you going to post up a pic of what's required as a basic impression for the GIR? Once I've gotten the spades off my Helmet and sewn my 82nd patch back on, ill be doing 1 for the Paras.

Cool beans, I was going to do a minimum thing, and a prefered list.

So minimum for GIR would would be M41/M43 with 82nd patch and mustards and leggings (or whatever you chose to be)
Preferred with M1 helmet + Haversack etc. What do you think?

If your refering to me then yes looking forward to it, was only able to come if I could get a lift and Herr Steiner thankfully obliged, will be nice to see just as much infantry as Airborne for once (and 82nd instead of 101st) also will be my first PBI run game I understand, looking forward to it, great way to end my exams. :D

Ok, 325th GIR Gear, as modelled by Lipton.

This shows the 'basic' kit for the 325th GIR. The strongest parts of equipment are, quite obviously, the M1 Helmet, M41 Jacket and the leggings. The leggings pictured are OD7, not OD3, but either are fine if that's what you have. the M1 helmet looks much more 'infantry like' without scrim on it - most pics of US line infantry do not show them wearing scrim and using local foliage when applicable will be much better. The netting on the helmet is 3/4 inch and is possible it would be great for everyone to have the same size netting. The M41 jacket is shown with the 82nd badge but wearing no badge is also perfectly acceptable.

The webbing shown is a 'garand belt', 'doughboy pack', water bottle and first aid pouch. Of course if people only have a Thompson then the respective belt will be worn but the M1 'garand' rifle is, again obviously, preferable. If people do not have a 'doughboy pack' then do not worry, a belt will be fine. Avoid musette bags as they scream 'para' and the game will be (I am assuming) split into a series of scenarios so we will not need to carry the world with us.

The shirt and trousers shown are the wools, which are more 'correct' but HBTs are also perfectly acceptable - and if the weather is anything like it was at Bloody Gulch wearing the HBT's would be nice. If the weather is warm it is also fine to loose the M41 jacket and just wear the wool shirt, as this was frequently done in warm weather. Obviously for those without a wool shirt of HBT shirt a t-shirt under the jacket is fine too.

The shoes are Roughouts, which are nice and comfortable, but any brown boots are fine as the leggings are the distinctive elements.

Right, I think that's about it. Apologies if I have repeated old ground, or if I have drowned the picture with this text. Look forward to seeing you all there. :good:-- attachment is not available ---- attachment is not available --

awww he could have at least smiled!!! :)

I think its worth mentioning that if you have an M41 patched as another unit, it would be preferrable to either cover up the patch, take it off or in the best case scenario, put the 82nd patch on.
