As you may or may not know, the Papermill site has fallen into administration. This is nothing to do with Xsite or the fine fellows that run it, but a beef between the site owners and HMRC.

Unfortunately the administrators yesterday decided to withdraw their consent for the site to be used as an airsoft venue. It's hugely disappointing to all concerned but there it is.

AGS will shortly be advertising an alternative game which we had originally plannned for later in 2012 once we get confirmation on site and date. We will try very hard to make this new event fall on the same weekend as Stalingrad.

Apologies to all who were looking forward to this.

Buggering arse. A real shame. It does seem the name itself may be jinxed when it comes to events! :banghead:

Curses! They never think about the cream of society missing out on a decent weekend of airsoft!

That is a shame. Good luck with the alternative game.

That's a damned shame. Seems to be a curse with urban sites.

Yes we are all totally gutted. But, as Martin says we have been and are working on an equally awesome alternative event for around the same date and are planning to stick with an Ostfront scenario. :good:

“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."
Adolf Hitler, November 1942

"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."
Joseph Stalin, November 1942

Well... we are called Army Group South for a reason...

Yes, a real gutter, but we have a number of alternatives we're investigating. Keep those Ostfront fingers crossed! :good:

Shame to see the event cancelled, but on a slight side note if the insurance / HS / Etc are not happy for it to be used for Airsoft, does that mean Xsite arn't able to use it also?

Not much use to Xsite if an airsoft club can't use it for airsoft!

Heh, I really feel for the AGS team, what a disappointment. CiA had a nice urban site lined up in the East Midlands a couple of years ago. We had it recce'd and were busy outlining game plans when exactly the same thing happened - the land owner/property developer went into administration and the administrators, despite their duty to realise all assets decided it wasn't worth the hassle of letting an airsoft club to continue to use it, and pulled the plug.

Pity there Andy . it's the curse of Stalingrad, as you know we have courted 3 sites over the years only to see them disappear. That papermill was chased for most of last year by us for the same reason only ot keep hearing of delay after delay . I thought at last finally someone had cracked it !

Oh dear what a shame - but no doubt the AGS team will come up trumps. On another note there is a reused factory complex near shoreham I think - do you want me to make some enquiries?
