Quick question regarding lighting in the tunnels as I have never been there before.

Are some areas well lit and others pitch dark?

Its a nice mixture, some light areas...some gloomy...some very dark!

We will be allowing period torches only, so may be worth getting one of these: http://www.sofmilitary.co.uk/german-arm ... duct,17034

A couple of questions, can we use tracer rounds (and is it dark enough to make it worthwhile)? and whats it like underfoot ? the concrete floor in Drakelow tunnels was really slippy in hobnails ! Oh and do we need a period torch ?

Any answers on this?

I do have a period torch!............I just don't think it's worked since that period! Never worked since I've owned it anyway, but no that I may finally have a use for it I will try to fix it.

Hi Russel I think the floors are all concrete so I guess avoid Hob nails unless you want to slip and slide.
As regards tracer rounds i would say no as some of the areas are light ambient light and 50 rounds isn`t much. I am not sure but in WW2 I think tracer rounds were only available for MMG`s correct me if I am wrong? :)

Regardless of authenticity, tracers can be fun - I used one in a tunnels game I ran.
But two big downers I found:
a) very frustrating seeing your rounds bounce off a foe without a hit being called (it happens, no matter what the 'standard' of play, for many reasons) and
b) it presents you being sneaky or undetected in dark areas, as the source of your rounds is immediately obvious, and you are instantly and accurately targeted.
All in all, don't bother!

No problem, yes authenticity is a problem as MP40's didn't have silencers either! (this is where someone will prove me wrong!), but as Chommers said they can be fun, I was just thinking if I'd be able to use up the big bag of tracer BB's I've got left from The Führer's Escape back in 2012

Just been trawling through ebay for larp weapons and came across a klingon bat'leth, I suppose I can't really get away with using that lol

Granger has renamed another post again! Always all about him!

Those weapons on the whole look good; don't go for the bloodied one though - no need to go all zombie on us!

3 things to remember about the LARP weapons:

1) These would have been whatever the soldiers could have found on the ground so shovels/hammers/handaxes would be fine, but they probably wouldn't have prepared war clubs or the like.

2) Remember that your weapon is simply a tool to get a job done so don't get too hung up about what you are carrying; what is more important is going into the event with the right mindset and ability to suspend belief for a few hours.

3) Only carry something that you would be happy to be hit with yourself! The first rule of WW2 airsoft is don't be a cock: this applies to LARP weapons more than anything!! Hand-to-hand combat will have very specific rules and anyone who behaves like a bellend will not last the day! You have all been warned 8)

We'll get a dedicated LARP thread up in the next few days and will be preparing some LARP weapons for people to buy on the day.

WTF? Why does that keep happening? I think my phone is auto filling for me.

I'll probably just get a hammer or hatchet. I did have my eye on a shovel plus it went out of stock (plus it was pretty expensive).

Ralph

I may have to carry a stick, not for weapon purposes, or Larp, just the fact my knee might pop out! Doesn't happen all of the time, just like to have support around in case it does. It can stand off to one side somewhere.

Very likely; mobile technology always thinks it knows what we want more than us! :slap:

We will be looking to create some shovels for players to buy, so keep an eye out for them on the LARP weapons thread - based on a German entrenching tool and very safe :good:

Bloody phone.

I'd be very interested in a larp safe entrenching tool

Yes, I'd be up for a larp etool too, there were some at Pavlovs house and they were great. As long as they fit a Russian or German carrier...

At Pavlovs most of us just used pipe insulation aka "lead pipe"

Me too, very interested in a Larp entrenching tool.

There was mention of these being made before the previous attempt at this game in 2013.

Cheers

Will there be a HQ or home base to leave lunch, spare weapons, etc or do we need to carry everything with us? Also will we be stopping for lunch?

Ralph
