Southern Army Division is making a big effort to create an immersive WWII experience and we try to get players to look like they are part of a cohesive unit. Obviously we don’t expect you to fork out hundreds of pounds on extra kit just for our games. If you don’t have suitable stuff, then we will make every effort to find loaner kit for you provided you let us know good and early. We also have the customary Kit Lend thread.
German
Any Heer fedgrau uniforms are acceptable. Waffen SS feldgrau is OK as long as you can remove or cover up SS insignia. No Waffen SS or Sumpfmuster (tan & water) camo please. The only camo that could be worn is a Splittertarn Helmet cover.
Every German player needs a helmet for this event. If you don't have one ask in Kit Borrowing thread and we will get you one. SS helmet insignia MUST be covered.
Soviet
Russian players have two uniform choices available:
Soviet Rifle Regiment - Any wartime or post war Gymnastiorka is acceptable (remove shoulder boards please). Shinels, Telegroikas, etc are all fine. M40 style helmets are recommended (mainly for H&S reasons) again if you don`t have a helmet ask in Kit Borrowing thread and we will try and get you one.
Factory Workers Militia -
1930s / 1940s style workman's clothes or boiler suits. Flat caps.
Note - as with military uniforms, this impression requires you to do some proper research. Authentic civilian impressions can be difficult and time consuming to put together. It's not supposed to be used as an excuse to turn up with a pair of cargo pants and a donkey jacket.
Weapons
Any WW2 Era Pistol, TT33, Makarov,P08,P38, PPK, 1911, Revolver, etc.
K98
Mosin Nagant
MP40
PPSh41
SVT40
G41
Thompson - only if you are unable to obtain / borrow any of the above, please.
Acceptable lookalikes would be any wooden-stocked rifle. Also, wood-coloured M14s can pass for SVT40 or G41, but must be used on single shot only and magazines filled to Rules limits. Captured weapons can be used by either side.
Support Weapons -Please No Support weapons these will be incorporated in game by the organisers.
Ammo Restrictions - These will be very tight, 100 rounds per life, so you might be wise to choose the option of a bolt-action rifle or Pistol and LARP weapon.
Melee LARP weapons can be used by players, please feel free to make your own. All will need to be vetted by us on the day please contact us beforehand post a picture and inspire others.
Remember chaps and Chapesses you can come as Factory/Militia workers so you don`t need Soviet kit
I've had a thought about footwear. My boots have hobnail soles as I assume most German boots have.
Now I've played quite a bit at UCAP Bunker and the floor is quite slippery with rubber soles.
I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with hobnails on this sort of concrete surface?
I am merely a reserve at the moment but I like to be prepared for these things.

I've never had any problems with hobnails on wet concrete personally.
I've fired a bullet on every continent. Nearly hit someone, too.
The worst bit about concrete is slipping and sliding on BBs - it's worse with non-hobnailed boots I fancy. In any case, I think you just adapt, millions of soldiers coped pretty well.
Plus, upside is cool intimidation stomping about, esp. if there are half a dozen of you (sounds like half a division in the tunnels). Sneaking about is easier with rubber soles but not impossible with hobs.
But I do recall someone slipping flat on their back once - alcohol may well have played a part.
Using hobnails at Drakelow tunnels wasn't good, and I've been told at UCAP "the floors are all concrete so I guess avoid Hob nails unless you want to slip and slide".

Don't run, there's a good policy or for this game I recon just some sneaky slow stealthy manoeuvre will help you succeed.
Any pyro rules here?
G&G MG42, PPS Kar98k, KWC P08 and patiently awaiting the KWA MP40 GBB.
Site rule of no pea grenades down there.
Game rule, very restricted use of pyro, the game is set in the underworld of a heavily bombed out city, things could easily become unstable. You will be better off using stealth and your larp weapon rather than a box of grenades to blast your way out of trouble.
and remember these are underground tunnels and any bang is going to be 10 x louder than in a woodland , i don't want my ears ringing for a week !

Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......
a problem shared is a problem halved ,but an advantage shared is no advantage at all
if a job's not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well
Are we allowed to use smokes?

Ralph
In an underground tunnel where there is no fresh air? No.
In an underground tunnel where there is no fresh air? No.
Thats a good point. Haven't been to the site before so wasn't sure how well ventilated the tunnels were.

Ralph
When I visited it was after a game and some pyro use (no smokes) and there was a fair amount of smoke still in the tunnels from bangs alone.

Blimey. No pyro it is.

Another thing worth noting for those that haven't skirmished underground before is condensation. It remains a constant temperature down there, something like 12 degrees, so you may find as you move around and warm up your eye pro may be prone to steaming up. I'd say it's worth taking mesh goggles if you've got any. The cons with mesh is they do cut down your vision quite a bit and it's not going to be bright down there at the best of times, so it's your call, worth taking into consideration though.

Good call, I play in those particular tunnel a bit as I'm local and you do get steamed up. With a helmet on, it cuts down the airflow. I will be taking both types of eye pro.

Hi Can we use MK5 flashbangs?
The plan is to issue pyro when needed to prevent on side carrying loads and "winning" by blasting their way round every corner.
