I'll be wearing a German uniform. All of this namby pamby fashion talk should be left to the Brit's!
You talk as if we Brits have choices in our uniforms, like the German players...

At that stage, LW blue or plain grey/green would be best. (I'm afraid I'm no expert on LW helmet colours - Lardy?)
I think RAL 6006 with a single decal was still the standard for crete. Some helmets appear to have been camouflaged with sandy paint but alot may just be just mud covered.
Yes, mud covering was a common early war thing with FJ.
So, in answer to your question, Kieron: LW blue or RAL6006 (which is the grey/green most commonly seen on Wehrmacht troops' hardware) or anything with mud or a green, grey or splinter cover is fine.

I'd rule out blue tbh, I'm not sure FJ ever painted there lids blue. I've heard they followed Heer regulations on colour as a carryover from their army days.

Joking aside, I meant that to me, the uniform that I wear is just a tool, just like the gun that I use. Stitch perfect, coordinated kit is all well and good but, it's the game that matters to me.

Ooh. Thanks for the advice. I'll go digging.

I understand your point totally, however why not strive for both or as much of both as each of us participating wants. ... Putting effort into your load out is only like putting effort into your weapon or the game it's self, we are all different but with a common interest.. Basically we are all individuals with a sliding scale of interests within this quirky hobby of ours.. Live and let live.. I won't tell you what gun to use but equally I don't expect you to tell me what to wear..
No offence intended, just putting my view forward..

None taken, as I never told, nor did tell anyone in the last 6 years, what to wear.

You're absolutely correct, Lardy - the correct colour is just basic RAL6006 grey/green. It is unlikely that blue ever existed.

I thought your first event was 2007?

Discussing kit is all part of the build up to the event to my mind. It helps build interest and excitement about the event without trying to second guess the organisers on what they have planned. That can just be counterproductive I find.
All true. My first WW2 event was actually in 2004!

Oh, your dry wit, Lardarsch. My first event as FJ was 2008. Although, actually, I think I was wearing a Brit/Polish airborne helmet. Whatever. I have spent the day whipping myself over the shoulders with FJ Y-straps.
Just a normal day, really.

I know that for many people it depends on what you already have, but are most who are coming as FJ aiming for plain green step in jump smock as the ideal?

Green or splittertarn. Green is more early war.

Indeed. Green would be more typical. It's what I will be wearing.

Sounds great. Although I'm hoping the weather will be authentically Mediterranean, so you probably won't need the scarf!
