Buckfast for the social then?
Buckfast should be used only for hand to hand combat.
yeah - let's keep it in context.
By way of a vaguely sensible question ...........
Would Scottish HG have worn a Tam O'Shanter or even a Bonnet (that's a hat, not the result of head-butting motor vehicles which I believe is a relatively recent social statement )
I'm assuming that they wouldn't have been issued, but would they have 'acquired' them ?

The way it seems to have gone is that officers got Tams, but ORs had FS Caps.

While I do know folk who indulge in the tonic wine (I'm ashamed to admit) I have NEVER met a Scotsman who would willingly drink McUrines. That's why it's normally followed by the word 'Export'.

We shall have to differ there ,having been born and bred in Fife's sunny climes from pure Aberdonian stock in the absence of a good pint of Belhaven, McEwans 80/- is indeed my favourite tipple
Aye but d'ye speak the Buchan Stof? My mate (fe Peterhead) and I went into a Lennoxtown pub years ago and he asked for two pints of bitter (he'd been down south far too long). The whole bar just stared at him - I then had to remind him that its was Heavy that he was wanting.
I'm a hero with coward's legs.

Interesting little play I found whilst doing my homework
Heh, I've already posted this in my comprehensive stickied briefing notes above!

Ah, that's heavy, I was refering to McUrines 'lager' (if it can truly be called that) which is pish.
I wouldn't even consider lager as beer, there are a few alternatives when heavy isn't available but none start with the L word.
Before anyone goes out and buys a Tam o'Shanter you might consider that it is exactly the same as a GS cap ( especially the SOF / WPG one ) all you actually need is the toorie ( pompom in english speak ) on the top .And there is a guy on Ebay selling them for £3 each.Or find an obliging young lady to make you one ,I'm told the are a piece of p@ss to make but sewing I have mastered ,knitting I refuse.
STOP PRESS NEWS
A great new reproduction uniform manufacturer (Paddelaters.com) has appeared on the scene, just in time to order stuff for the Horn game. The company hails from the same town as that zenith of premium customer service and manufacturing accuracy and quality, Replicators.
Of specific interest is the new company's Tam O' Shanter.
Here is the link: http://www.paddelaters.com/ww2%20Britis ... e%2019.php
And to save yourself the bother of looking at the website, here is the product photo:
but unbelievably true!
The description says otherwise, but why would they put a picture of THAT up in the meantime???
A Proud Member Of 'Team Spleen!' who play mainly at Gunman Airsoft, Tuddenham, Suffolk.
Its unbloody believable - but true!
None of the photos on that site depict his own products, stuff swiped from all over the place, Ã la Replicators (I assume its the same bod setting up a bit better website!)
