An ammo bag would make a much better dump pouch for holding ammo and other bits and bobs its nice and big and would look alot better than having 2 thompson mag holding, things, 5 cell mag pouches are fine but the problem is the 30rnd mags stick right out of them meaning they get full of crap when you hit the dirt crap + mags + gun = crap in your gun a mag bag would be far better but thats your choice.

Yes there are the dutch post war boots very similar to the jump boots most post war dutch stuff was coppied from the US so they are prietty similar.

US airborne webbing I would say Mag Bag, Ammo Bag, Watterbottle, medical pouch, Pack, is all you realy need and if you get the ammo bag its large so you dont realy need a pack if you dont want it, if you still find you need additional space for Airborne you can fill up the gaps with rigger pouches.

As far as I know the 45 had to be bought by the soldier himself so it was more common amongst officers than regular troopers.

Regarding the boots...there is already about 4 topics open about this. Please just take your time to search for it, as the same questions get asked over and over again.

Regarding webbing get a carlise pouch, Thompson mag bag or even a GP (general purpose) bag. If you want 2 thompson mag pouches then go for the chest rig. Get yourself a book about the 101st/82nd AB. Or have a look at the pictures posted about the forum. Or use the kit guides section.

Pistols are personal preference, but they do come in handy. I've got a luger to be different, and it looks like ive taken it off a dead german.

hope this helps.

the dutch army brown boots are very very close to corrcorans mate, meandog uses a pair.from what i can see the only real difference is the lack of holes across the toe cap.having said that, the holes on my jump boots are filling up with polish and will probably dissapier to some extent too.

Yes I've read on here about the dutch boots, however I've not actually seen anyone state where they're available from past you mention jayjays which no longer have them, and ebay which I'm fluffed if I can find some on there.

Thanks though Nige 8)

I should add I do know that epic stocks the double buckle boot in my size, however they're rough outs and I'd have to gloop them up (polish) cos I'd ruin them in seconds unprotected. I don't however know the quality of these boots, if they're ok to be polished rather than rough out, whether they're value for money (I think they're £75 which is a lot for a pair of boots that may be completely wrong, anyone know if we still get discount on Epic orders over £50? never used it before).

Anyways back to the waffle, I'd rather have the corcorans or indeed dutch BCH in brown FFS DAMN MY STUMPY FEET  I can't even find originals atm in my size  I mean ffs ebay has some size 9 double buckles on. Size nine thanks to the sellers use of a ruler equates to over 11 inches of foot. I'd have to wear about 5 pairs of socks with something like that :(

All help gratefully accepted on this, suggestions of dealers, or ebay links can be pm'd rather than clutter you guys thread.

Yes we do. Have a look on the Epic section on here for details how - or contact Chommers. 8)

Thanks Andy, have followed CW destructions to implement that. Now back to the crux of the epic boots. Does anyone know if they're any good and can take bulling up ? I think atm they're my only option as even the SOF repro boots (I can hear HS spitting feathers) only go down to a size 6 and from what I've read elsewhere the sizes run big.

I don't think buckle boots fit your brief Helga - but yes, they can with a lot of work be made to polish up (although not exactly like smooth leather) and yes, Epic do offer a 5& discount (which you have to ask for) to CiA card holders.

Thinking outside the box then - if you can get ANY high leg boots to fit you and look about right then how about using Dylon (or similar) shoe colour to change it from black to red/brown?

Had thought of this, potentially getting more modern black corcorans and stripping them. But I've absolutely no idea if this would work, due to the leather being prestained black and obviously I need brown with that cherry glow add to that they have slightly F-arby rubberised soles of a modern DM style pattern and I kinda gave up on that idea last night.

I'm obviously working on something (in the words of toyah its a mystery oh its a mystery) Anyways the double buckle boots were issued to females, from what I can muster though the toe shaping is not correct nor is the height where the buckles sit. That however would be the least of my worries as they would be hidden away under some slacks.

PS not bothered by the rough outs or indeed that they won't be as smoooooooooooooth as erm non rough outs, its whether the rough outs/leather quality of the boot will take some tinkering ;) .

I'm more interested in peoples actually impressions of the boots sold by julian can't ask elsewhere for reasons this message will self destruct upon reading it  , mainly as atm its my only option as bidding on the sparse and few between corcorans requiring no work in my size seems to be a time consuming past-time with no fruition :(

Dink armed with cloak and gravity knife (of course should be dagger but I haven't got just a random one of those  )

OK next question, have actually found some on Barry Lyndons ebay in my size. I think he is the one eastern dealer I've not actually had dealings with. Anyways link is to the boot, comments positive and negative appreciated (bare in mind though I'm rapidly running out of options atm it stands BL boots or epic double buckle boots).

For your opinions.

Should I realise I may have to strip the BL ones if I get them as they don't look the most appealing as is (look almost plastic :? )

These are ex SPR Corcs that were Black one stripped and dyed Brown. No idea what was used to strip them or then to recolour but they dont look too bad.

Caution though,a fair bit of the stitching was rotten so no idea if this was caused by using something like Nitromors to strip the colour or due to age,use or poor storage so if intending to strip a pair i would ask at a cobblers to see if there is a specific product for the job.

I see 8) - your posts are so cryptic Helga!
Heh, if its nothing to to with paratroopers and buckle boots are OK for your project then that's fine! I doubt whether there are many manufacturers of repro buckle boots (there wouldn't be enough of a market!) and no one says they have boots made especially for them. I bought mine years ago at a fair. I think it was from one of the Dutch outfits and the boxes looked exactly the same as the SoF ones, indeed the boots looked the same, so I'll wager that there is only a couple of makers! Anyhoo, mine have taken oooh, 50 layers of dubbin/polish and will shine up well if I feel like taking a shoe brush to them, otherwise they are just flat matt.

No idea on the Spearhead boots but they are for tiny feet - so that's got to be good!

Are the boots likely to get much hammer in your 'project'? Or is it technical accuracy you are bothered about? The BL boots look pretty similar to the boots in Enjames's book - give or take concessions to modern foot/calf shapes.
