Hi,

I can't comment on Epic's jumpsuit but i do have the M1942 reinforced jacket and M1942 reinforced trousers.

These are great and are pretty hard wearing. I have bought lots of gear from epic and have been very pleased. Julian(the boss) is very helpful.

Some of the guys swear by authentic WWII Kit(and post war) as better quality material and durabillity. Need to search it out though, if you have the time.

I really cant recommend this guy enough to people. He was recommended to me by Harbourne Blue when i was starting out.

Amazing quality jumpsuits for half the price of ATF, SOF, WPG. for £56 you get the jacket, trousers, 101st/82nd badge (state which badge you want), extra pocket (if needed). They are reinforced. I've had mine now for 8 months from them, and its the best decision i've made. Comfy, extremly durable.

But not epic. I recommend Julian, 99% of my kit is from him and I have not been disappointed. I have M1942 jacket and trousers on order. trousers £27.99 and jacket £49.95 + you get them within a week and if they don't fit you can send them back and Julian will sort it out ASAP.

£27.99 + 49.99 = 77.94 Thats more expensive aint it Pat? Plus you've got postage on top. ;)

Anyways There's quiet a few retailers to choose from here. So you shouldn't have a problem finding the right jumpsuit for you.

I think you will find WPG sizes are created for the current American punters, not sized for historical accuracy!

Get a size that fits you and on this point a UK retailer is the best best as it can be returned easily - Epic will look after you...

dont get too hung up on the size, a size too big, even two sizes isnt a problem, webbing sinches it in, and a bit baggy looks more authentic than the modern era " tailored" look. bob tansley's m42 was 2 sizes too big, he was going to send it back till he put his webbing over it and it looked just right.( US paratroopers in m42 jump suits were called "baggy pants yanks" by the germans )

Thanks for the tips, guys. My main concern is finding something that will fit and will be durable. The Epic suits seem excellent. As do the the WPG. The suits featured on that ebay link and at WPG only come in 38 at the smallest.

Was the 38 jacket the smallest size issued? If so I'll just go with that size for the sake of authenticity.

The suits on that link come up about 1 size smaller. but you can pay £5 more and get one custom fitted to you spec's.

From my own experience with the far east sellers their kit is very very good for the money but beware with sizing-even providing actual measurements as ive NEVER had any item of clothing that fit me so has actualy cost me money in the long run-at least with someone like SOF i could try the stuff on first.

Again and this is only my experience but every jump suit ive seen except for SM Wholesale and ATF is the same, give or take slightly different poppers, same labels etc so i would think that no matter where you buy them from other than the 2 mentioned that they are all made by the same people in HK or China.

I would LOVE a set of ATF M42s but no way i can justify paying that much and getting stung with fees etc.Problem is theyre that good no one seems to be selling them used

SM ones are again only my opinion very very nice suits

I had one of the ATF import uniforms until just before xmas. It stood apart from most of the other chinese made M42 in the type and quality of the cloth. It was greener and had a faint sheen that didn't really fade. I say had as I gave it away. I still have one pair of pants though.
I'm waiting for the next batch of ATF M42s which promise to be cracking.

My M42 is ATF or WPG, can't remember which. It is FAR superior to the cheaper ones.

As I've said elsewhere, numerous times; you pays your money, you takes your choice.

I got my Jumpsuit from this ebay seller too.

I have had no trouble with his suit. And the great thing is I was not the same horrible shades all the SOF players were in the last game I played.

All the rest of my kit is from Epic so I would expect Julians jump suits to be of a same standard.

I think its luck of the draw with the HK ones when it comes to colour.

Bought 2 suits from the same seller within the space of a couple of months and one was an almost lime green the other a grey green. Also different press studs so i guess it varies from batch to batch.

The SM Wholesale(who made the BOB suits)are also up there quality wise.

I bought my M42 from the linked ebay seller quite a while ago aswell, It's not bad at all. But the leg-ties are terrible, They both ripped off, after sewing 5 times I just gave up and kept them off.

Well the one on the left leg I stepped on on accident. The right legged one just bending my leg in awkward fashions made it rip a little, then after a while it just fell off.

Visit the WWII re-enactors forums and do a search, the American forum esp. is full of 'Which M42 is best' threads.
Usually it means which is cheapest.
The Epic suit and those of SoF are import, the cheaper ATF are import but made to a spec. and quality controlled by ATF. The ATF are very good suits and excellent value. The new version promises to be even better.

Weird..well im guessing stepping on them wont help. Mined are constantly tied up over the leg pockets that are filled with sponge to give them the full to bursting look. Mine are still as good, as the day i bought it.

I would say that the general opinion by reenactors is that the ONLY jump suit worthy is the ATF one and that all others are crap.

Thats only what i gather and not my opinion

We realy need a UK supplier to start stocking ATF gear :( :( :(
