Hi chaps
Looking to put together a dday styled loadout as a spare uniform and also for if i can go to the dday game in november. Plus so I can get myself one of those nice little vests heh.
I've been looking at ordering one of the m41 jackets but there seems to be such a wide variety floating around the internet that im not sure which is the right one. I've found a few original pics online of them but being somewhat grainy and black and white its hard to see which is the right jacket.
The prices seem to range from

This one looks good, my origional has buttons that are brown, its also more green than my SOF repo

gone a nice worn looking one off ebay in the end. comes with some mittons that you can expose the fingers on and a 28th inf patch. seller claims it was made for saving private ryan
either way looks a decent quality and for

The colour vairies on them, dependant on the dye at the time they were produced during WW2, mine is a late War 1 and its slightly more on the green side of tan.

you mean the m41 or the vest webby?

The Jacket, I have no idea about the vest, I know they aint supposed to be l'orange anyway
From snaps they look tan with green trimming

I've done a bit of research on the vests. from what i've ready they made them in tan and OD. but the sof first runs are well off colour wise hehe
I did consider them though if they could be faded but I gave ti a try on another of their first run products and although the results not to bad its still not brilliant. i tried soaking for ages in a bleach solution then drying in the sun but it took several washes to fade enough. not worth it with such a huge vest. anyone else know something that might do it? like a dye remover etc?

There is a handy thread on this, including my advice, on ASCUK here:

thanks mate
the mag bag i had off them faded out nicely now after a fair bit of soaking and bleach. so I think some cold water and period bleach may well sort it out if i get one
