Hi all,
I saw someone posted this photo in a Wehrmacht group on facebook of a man in the 12th SS Panzer Division, and I just wanted to find out what he is equiped with and dressed in top to bottom.
Thankyou,
Connor
Dot 44 jacket and trousers, low boots, gaiters, standard leather webbing, helmet with a breading strap over it.
44 pattern was supposed to be worn over the wool uniform and is quite a late war uniform pattern, while 12th SS did use it, they were notable primarily for their extensive use of Italian camo, especially in Normandy.
Cheers

Hmm... looks like a reenactor to me. Breadbag strap is very much an early war thing.
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Oh yes, he's obviously a re-enactor. I'm not even sure if he hasn't got modern boots on.
Cheers

Haha that's practically a famous photo! Definitely not a reenactor!

Yeah he's not fat enough
Well if he held his rifle like that in a re-enactment event, he'd be macerated.
Well blow me down with a feather
He's also got his non regulation eagle sewn on his jacket, but there are lots of pics of 12th SS Grenadiers with that on. I guess even in 1944 people liked bling.

Exactly my thoughts, too! Well, I stand corrected - again! FYI, the dot 44 uniform was supposed to be worn over Feldgrau wools, rather than replace it.
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
So could just the dot 44 uniform be worn without the standard grey uniform underneath or does it depend? Thanks for the responses and help also!
It could be worn on its own or it could be mixed. Camo trousers with a wool tunic for example.
