Kampfgruppe SS have been asked to provide a couple of instructors and a few grenadiers to help the doughboys on their first training day. To that end we need a few reckless individuals to help out. This will involve, springing ambushes, building and defending camed up entrenched positions, going out on patrols and generally causing havoc behind enemy lines, to act as enemy for the DB's. The date is fairly close to our own axis training day with the Brits of PBI, a possible date being around the 2nd week in Feb at the Pheonix woodland site (last info given) If you want to come along please state your interest, we've got three grenadiers so far, but we could use a few reinforcements as there are likely to be 20 or so US troops to use as willing targets, we need a couple of guys to man the MG42 which is going spare at the moment. The whole day will be spent doing practicle exercises, the emphasis being on patrols, ambush and assaults, short sharp engagements, one shot one kill, play dead if hit, as realistic as possible. So, if you want to help train the enemy, and mo a few yanks down in the process, get your name down!

Its a personal ethics thing as well mate.

I'm happy to play heer or lufty (in fact im actually still incredibly uncomfortable at times) but i cant bring myself to wear SS runes at the mo.

Largley because of a very left wing background and links with the ANL.

It took me about three hours to explain to one of my mates that my panzer uniform wasnt an ss jacket, we nealry had a major fall out over it.

But i'll happily wear the cam pattern to play opfor.

I don't think we've got any nazis here, a few stitch nazis maybe, I know I'm slowly turning into one, I like the ss for the wide variety of classy uniforms compared to eveyone else

I'd agree with that. I like the uniforms of the Germans a lot, and I think it's important to remember that not all Germans were Nazis (and not all Nazis were German), but I'd still feel funny wearing the runes. Nothing against anyone who does, and I realise the Waffen SS were to a degree apolitical, but there's something about that symbol. Heer on the other hand, love it! Especially the little quasi-anachronisms, like the collar things and the bling.

My ex next door neighbour was one of the few Heer troops to be airlifted out of Stalingrad in December '42 (its a great ale but one ofr later) Poor bloke had been Polish up until Germany annexed Gdansk and told him he was now a German and had ot fight in the Whermacht , so yep not all volunteers and def not all Nazis.

OK, here is a german, he wears the Bad Boys Uniform and he like to reenact this period of time and many others, like american civil war, middle age etc., for me it doesnt matter who wears what, when and why, I dont like to try to look in to the brain of the guys arround me, why should I. I understand all people who got any kind of stress with the Wehrmacht or the SS, or Gestapo, US Air Force, Royal Air Force, STASI, KGB and all that organisations and forces that made some steps too far, it was war, or cold war, but it is over now and we are the sons or dáughters, we are the "NEXT GENERATION", means we know what happends and can take care of it, but let us lern from the history, not seperate in to bad or good guys, they all (mostly) where brave soldiers and fought for Führer, King, Vaterland, Liberty, Sieg, Freedom, and mostly for themself, so survive. I am happy to be a part of a community that forgott all stress that our nations had 60years ago, and that we can honour all of the brave soldiers that fought, doesnt matter for what.
I hope I will not be kicked of from this forum now, I dont want politics here, but I feel now better to give that comment here. I hope that all of you can understand the meaning of what I wrote, my english isnt so well, so sorry for this comrades.

My uncle was injured in ww2 by friendly fire & left by his own side, without medical attention from a waffen ss patrol he would have died, he was take prisoner & ended up in Poland, People can take offence at what ever uniform you wear, today's good guys could be tomorrows bad guys,

Hstuf. Vorwärts - no kicking would done on this forum for mature posts like yours! A nice summation of what we are about especially poignant given your home country.

Polite moderator request:
No more discussion on the merits or otherwise of SS impressions on this thread please - while interesting it's not pertinent to the topic in hand which was asking for Axis OPFOR for the Doughboy's training day....
Thank you!

OK just had a count up, looks like we've got a fantastic turn out for "Mission behind enemy lines" from KG SS. Here's a list of those who have expressed an interest in what should be an excellent day's airsofting-:

KAMPFGRUPPE SS
John M
Gadge
Nelz
Forrester
Micheal Brown
Frontschwein
Quag
Quag's mate
Stubblehopper
Sgt Heide
Keith Batey
JD 7 (Del)
Dave Barret
Gaz
Cliff
Steve D
Bobby K
Richard Schulze
Hauptsturmfuhrer Vorwarts
Plus + 1
Plus + 2
Plus + 3

ATTACHMENTS-: Sturmpioneer
Che
Fandangols
Helga

Thats going to give us a total of 2x8 man infantry sections, plus a 4 man recce element and HQ gruppe, almost a full platoon if, everyone turns up. Maximum effort please troops, with the European SS guys helping us out, this gives us an excellent opportunity to work as full platoon, we should be able to do some proper pinning and flanking with these numbers.

Just got confirmation from Chomers that we can have a mortar barrage on site for the final exercise with the Yanks. Che and Fandangols will be organising it, so we should have a pretty convincing mortar and smoke barrage with plenty of potash, flour, twigs and leaves, ect to make it as realistic as possible, just before we put in a full scale platoon attack. Just to make you aware we will need to raise a couple of quid from everyone to cover the cost of the pyros, but well worth it believe me, the last one Major organised was pretty spectacular.

Here’s the programme for the TD on the 10th Feb’

We’ll be starting at 9:30am on Sunday morning, you can arrive anytime after 5pm on the Saturday night. We are sleeping in a building with toilets etc so no need for tents, just bring a sleeping bag and a rolly matt.

To start off, we’ll be holding the usual parade and inspection with a little bit of foot drill carried out by Oscha, one of the guys coming from Germany to take part. Nothing heavy just the usual stuff we do anyway. We’ll then cam up and shake out into sections and practice moving as separate sections, under section NCO’s and 2IC’s from Reihe (single column) into line, then come together and practice the same, but this time as a platoon. This will be done by Obstmf Heide and Hpstmf Vorwarts who’ll be acting as our platoon HQ. This should take us to the end of the first hour, by which time the Yanks will be ready to play and we’ll start with section ambushes and recce patrols, the ambushes will start with roadside mine detonations,(claymores) this time, which will be sorted out by our attached FJ2 sturm Pioneers Che and fandangols. We’ll also be sending out our own patrols to be ambushed by the Yanks.

This should take us through to lunch hour, after which we’ll be having a bit of a photo shoot, followed by a little more rehearsal for the final exercise in the afternoon.

The final exercise should be a good one, we’ll be sending out recce patrols to set up ambushes and clearance patrols to take out snipers, the Yanks will be trying to do the same, but we’ll push them back to their defensive positions. Which is a series of trenches. This will be covered by a defensive “Live” minefield, which we’ll have to cut through. Once we get in position, as a whole platoon ready for the assault, there will be a mortar and smoke barrage laid on just before we go in, this will be a one shot one kill assault, so you’ll have to take care on this one.

Cost is £20, plus a small pyro charge, depending on numbers will be around £3-4
Phoenix have a shop selling stuff on site so please bear it in mind for supplies.

Training day is at phoenix woodland site on sunday feb the 10th. For directions check phoenixs site, here’s a multi map link

http://www.multimap.com/map/aproute.cgi ... country=GB

Postcode For Satnav NG198RL

From junction 29 M1 head on the A617 to Mansfield. Pass through the village of Pleasley (watch for speed cameras). You will come to a roundabout at which you will need to take the 2nd turn on left, sign posted Shirebrook, 100yds on the right is a turning into Pleasley Vale Business Park, so take it easy.

Follow that road until you hit a security barrier with a lake on the right hand side,

Book in at security.(Well, press the Intercom button and tell them you're there for Phoenix).

Just to add some further directions:

Once through the barrier drive down the road 100 yards or so. Before the snap wagon turn right into the mill complex and head for the rock face - you will see a road that turns right. Follow this to the end when you get to a proper marked and tarmac car park. De-bus there. Walk back past the mill flume until you get to some yellow handrails. Turn left into the courtyard then up the metal staircase into the mill. Signposted from therein.

If you use the tall chimney as a landmark and head for that!

It sounds like an excellent day you've got planned. I'm tempted to put my name down although I don't have SS kit. Do the FJ pioneers need any extra help? :?

It seems to me, it would be much more easy for us, to call the Luftwaffe and ask them to rent us a few jumpsmocks and a JU52 to get there, to drive on the "wrong" site of the streets will be some kind of adventure for us  8)
